She was only around for another year and half after this and still she had that deep, rich, smooth sound. I loved her so much. Her music was impeccable and her personality was so charming.
@ Joni did not realize she had that short of time after she sang this song-your so right her voice was so deep rich , what depth , no one would ever replace the great Sarah Vaughn loved her too.
The greatest jazz vocalist of all time. What a voice what a balladeer. She takes you to places that you only experienced in your dreams but you have never been there before
The most beautiful vibrato in vocal jazz... Sergio Mendes's "so many stars" is a haunting Bossa ballad that grabbed me in and never let me go. The "Divine" Sarah delivers here her magic
"Brazilian Romance," is an album I had on tape. Beautiful!......I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Vaughan, backstage, after her performance at the original Golden Nugget in Atlantic City.
I am Brazilian and I grew up listen to your songs, you are one of the best singers in the world, for me, you're the best and when I listen to your voice I just get thrilled, you're fenomenal. I have almost all of yours cds. I just love them all, It's a pity that you're gone, but it doesn't matter, I'll always listen you, so adorable.
Her voice sooo rich, like a fine wine, hard to believe she smoked with a breathtaking voice like that , she’s iconic , a legend in the grand sense of the word, she ‘ll never be gone , she belongs to the ages but by God, still singing , Sarah Vaughn what singer , stirs every emotion in your entire body.
Oh how I wish I could have seen her in concert. There was no one like "Sassy", I have played Brazilian Romance over and over again , every song a thing of beauty❤
It has been said countless times but it bears repeating, One of the greatest voices of all times. Sarah when you sang, you sang to me. No one else was in the room.
She has to be one of the five greatest modern singers, but a truly beautiful lyric becomes lost in the enormity of her presence. Translated lyrics are: The dawn is filled with dreams, so many dreams--which one is mine? One must be right for me; A dream of all the dreams, when there's a dream for every star; and there are oh, so many stars--so many stars . . . The wind is filled with songs, so many songs--which one is mine? One must be right for me; A song of all the songs, when there's a song for every star; and there are oh, so many stars - - so many stars . . .
Great singer and so adorable, witty, and self-deprecating. Her humorous dig that her brazilian album was out and not many knew it seems reminds me of a Lou Reed concert I went to, and he asked if anyone had bought his latest album (I forget which one). The response was the same as from Sarah's audience, but unlike the divine Miss Vaughan Lou didn't see the funny side.
Her voice IMO got better with age its like a fine wine , she has a range her pitch I wish I could have seen he perform live RIP Ms Vaughn the last of the golden royal queens of Jazz and soul
Her Brazilian Romance LP is hard to find now... mostly pre-owned...glad I got mine... the whole album puts me in a romantic mood indeed. Thank you Ms Vaughan
Thanks so much for posting these wonderful musical treats with the incomparable Sass with the incredible trio. I am so glad I got to hear them. Andy left the trio and Sarah hired Monty Budwig and then she became too ill to work. Miss hearing her and talking to her.
ANTHONY HARDEN It's indeed a gem! And the songs, and her interpretation of them, are sublime. It was her last studio album & she was nominated for a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Female.
WOW. never mind the lapses in the lyirics. A good many performers do better in 'live' surroundings: this actually betters her remarkable recording of this Sergio Mendes & Alan and Marilyn Bergman song.
As it is wont to happen, live performaces from the best will enhance the best virtues of even their recorded versions: this is the case here, despite a couple of verbal miscues which matter not. It is, after all; the divine one. ile:///C:/Users/Mauricio/AppData/Local/VNT/newtab.html
The best popular singer today is Beyonce Knowles. I hope she ends her career in 50+ years time being as classy as this. I think she will - I bet she's thought about it a lot.
