Took a spontaneous decision to travel somewhere I hadn't been before and Saransk was just the right distance, about 630km east of Moscow. It's the largest city in Mordovia, with a population of about 300k, but compact enough to walk around. This video includes the Mordovian Museum of Visual Arts, the Cathedral of St. Theodore Ushakov, the C17 John the Baptist Church, a jug of mead and Kabanchik Timofei enjoying a fountain.
