I am missing Florida, I live in NY and it is disgusting. Mean people, 40 below temps, dirty, bad roads, rusted cars, and it is dark all day many days of the year. The taxes are 5 times higher like everything else and you get nothing for the money. Very depressing. My wife and I are planning to move back to Florida and don't want to go back to St Pete. I told her how I used to ride my motorcycle to Sarasota and this video brought back memories. We will be giving Sarasota serious thought and will move if the project management/ business type jobs stay booming in the Sarasota area.
Sarasota was my home in the mid 90's , Ringling Grad. back then it was just as nice as it is today if not more as the city was far off the radar of most people and did not have the volume which now reside. It was a common thing where people wanting to try someplace new and escape their stress and problems came to Sarasota on vacation.. loved it so much, that then and their they make the leap in deciding not only to take a major course correction in their lives, opting not only to live in Sarasota but also to stay put and have their items shipped down!. People that visit have a tendency to stay. the place is that good. then again, in the 90's it was clear that the town was very special, and kept special by those who chose not to spread the news of what a gem the city was. but over time. the word got out. And all such towns in the region from clearwater Tampa all the way down to Ft Myers became the new go to. Towns that became sleepy decades prior, but carried on a particular charm. something very lost on the east coast of Florida. Far more natural more relaxing, more soothing outside of the fast pace of the east coast. granted today there is alot of activity from all which is new. whole new sections and neighborhoods whole new townships. But just as well, very very nice. as far as im concerned you can keep california. that place lost its charm a long time ago.
I love my hometown of Sarasota. I wish there were more videos of this beautiful civilization. And I would like to visit Miami, Chicago , NYC, Los Angeles, Pawtucket, Sydney, Monaco, Rome, Vancouver, New Orleans, Paris, Berlin, Reykjavik, Tokyo, Beijing , Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, London, Cairo, Prague, Singapore, St. Petersburg (Russia), Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Guatemala City, Lima, the Andes Mountains, and Minneapolis.
Sarasota is a beautiful town with lots to see and do, unfortunately, it attracts a lot of "rich" and stuck up people from up north. I'm a native Floridian, I grew up here in Sota and it has changed dramatically within the last 10 years alone. A lot of the big city people from out of state moved here and don't know anything about common courtesy or respect, they think because they have all this money, they can talk down to people. FYI, don't get it twisted, this is still the gunshine state and still the south, don't get fooled by nice sunsets and palm trees, we're no different than Georgia, TX or Alabama.
Hey Trevor! Love your style... good stuff! One question... could you be so kind to share with me the technique you used to shoot this video: @ 1:38 . (ND filter + Phantom) ? Thanks
Trevor, we need your help with making another video like this. Maybe get Lenny to help too. We need tourism back. Too much bad media is killing us. We beg you. Thanks
