Hello friends, the most popular Punjabi Food all over the globe is Sarson Ka Saag and Makki Ki Roti. It is so popular that it is synonymous with Punjabi Food. Whenever anyone speaks about Indian Food or Punjabi Food the first dish that comes to mind is Sarson Ka Saag and Makki Ki Roti. Mostly available in the winter season, this dish is enjoyed by one and all. There are various recipes to cook this delicious combination. This Sarson Ka Saag Recipe and Makki Ki Roti Recipe is my mother in law's recipe. As she hails from Lucknow her recipe is a little different from the one that is generally prepared in Punjab. Saag or Rai Ka Saag is prepared using minimum ingredients and yet it tastes amazing. Best enjoyed with home made white butter and curd this dish can be had over and over again. Spinach leaves, Fenugreek leaves and the super healthy bathua leaves are also added to the Saag to make it more tasty and nutritious.

For Sarson Ka Saag
Sarson/Mustard Leaves 500gms
Palak/Spinach 250 GM's
Fenugreek leaves 150gms
Bathua 100gms
Ginger 2 Inch
Garlic 5/6 cloves
Green chillies 2
Kasuri methi 1 tsp
Tomato Puree of 2 medium tomatoes
Turmeric 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Mustard oil for cooking
For tempering
Desi ghee 2 tbsp
Green chillies 2
Kashmiri red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
For Makki Ki Roti
Makki Flour
Carrom seeds 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
