This shows how important these guys are. I am not a survivalist or anything like that I was simply watching it because it is interesting. We need these guys and without them we would be lost. We may not know who they are usually but they are appreciated.
At around 40:18, did anyone else catch the look this SAS dude gave the camera when he said "A wire saw. This can cut through metal...it can also be used for other things as well". Dude has clearly killed someone with a wire saw before.
Absolutely wrong there, whilst training in European countries it was used to finally cut cheese and to cut any excess fat from meat, that is his regard to the the camera
40:32 Notice the unmentioned Durex condoms in his survival kit. Mans prepared. Edit: Further investigation told me that a condom can be used to carry a liter of water, cover your gun barrel so no water gets in. And of course cover your human barrel. I'm sure there's more uses.
They can also be used as a 1 way air valve to treat a sucking chest wound. A large bore needle goes through the center of the condom and the rubber is then unwound to act as a flapper valve to decompress the chest.
Very informative series for a non military person. Ty for posting these. And even more thanks to the men and woman that helped develope such strategies etc..and actually served in carrying them out worldwide.
@35:00 SAS: "To disarm a man is fairly simple but you gotta have the balls to do it" Militia: "What is this bloke on about?.... oh shit how the fuck???"
The 'Grey man' looks about ready to bite the interrogators legs off. Eddie's idea of 'no aggression' scares the fuck outta me. I'd hate to see him angry.
Good points ..knowing how to quickly disable all common military long arms and handguns ...sometimes u want to take those guns. Other times u can't carry them or need them. So emptying them at least and ideally disabling them is a good idea
UPthatHILL Music what, your saying that the SAS used in their escape kit: A painted wooden duck so if they were caught near water, they could stand in it and put the duck on their heads for camouflage. A small trumpet so that when they were on the run and needed to curry favour with a difficult child. A pencil so they can write a pass card about how their escape went. And a Robin Hood costume if they wandered into a local village and found the inhabitants were having a fancy dress party.
"Who were the other members of your patrol?" ... "We'd like to know eddy so we can look after them the way we've looked after you." Well I wouldn't give him that information because the way he has treated Eddy I wouldn't even wish on my worst enemy..
Great series. Best thing for the average Joe to take away from all of this is the determination of North using the suns shadow @44:35 . Obviously reverse this technique for the Southern hemisphere! And if you can't determine which hemisphere you're at you must have attended one hell of a party the week before ! Determining North using a watch I had to read up on some more: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analog_watch .
lol I thought about that too but plastic like the kind thick like that container is surprisingly well at keeping odors and such out, that's why canteens and such are made out of plastic even though they can sometimes add a plasticy taste to water if it's one of those camel pouch forms
It seemed they r trained to retreat on foot...could they not have called in a quick helli following killing the first group of enemys assault... Only 20 km inland and obviously no shorline defences coming in off the water
A good one for getting water if you're unable to take it from a stream etc is to wrap a plastic bag round a leafy branch on a tree and it will collect the condensation.
@caraxamage I'd probably say the Green Berets as they are actually taught the same level of survival skills as the SAS. SFOD (Delta) are really good shooters yeah, but they fall way way way way short when it comes to survival skills such as hunting...etc , behind enemy lines.
Since the Geneva Convention only applies to the Military and Military Special Forces Does anyone know what the protocol would be if a None Government Organization volunteer where to be kidnaped? I.e. If I where in South Korea and things where to go North.
Collecting water 51:20, like WintStudios said, lol, they also demonstrated that on Discovery Channel's Dual Survival, tampons are also used by some special forces to help making fire.
LKVideos it all depends on the situation. Maybe both parties are trying to keep a low profile to no alert the local population. As their coup need good PR to hold.
Can anyone confirm or not about the south side tree moss? I always thought that it worked as described in the video , but have also heard just recently that it is a myth? Anyone? thanks
Kavins Zombie My headphones are broken, so to hear this I put the volume way up, and their cheap headphones. So, the whole thing is kindof bass boosted for me, no joke!
You are partially correct for what it is for. It is actually used to protect your rifle barrel. Use condoms to prevent dirt, mud, water, and sand from getting into the barrel which keeps the action free. That way when the enemy is firing at you, you can fire back.
If they have never heard of violence before, they will probably not be able to comprehend it... They would probably just think we were all playing with super soaker's with totally invisible water :)
+Chris Anderson I'm glad Tompa seemed to re-upload the first part of this series with a version that doesn't have subtitles and has better sound quality. I hope he is able to do the same with this one as well, these first two episodes are my favorite in this series.
Actually most torture is psychological not physical - would use is a strong headed man even if you beat him he can keep it to himself and they won't kill them because they have information
Sean Stirrup Indeed. Interrogation is mainly about two things; Create an atmosphere that the subject is uncomfortable with, then offer them a way out: "All you have to do is sign here" - "All you have to do is say Yes or No." - "All you have to do is point on the map." You will get food for it, do you like curry? Do you like kebab? Do you like hamburgers? - "All you have to do is........"
TheBigH interesting !!! i think id crack i they said they would hurt my mother ! but i wouldn't be there cuz im fucing useless the army wouldn't have me in ww2 id be that useless !! no point waisting an English bullet on the aspie having a melt down just uck it id be more use to the enemy than my own side ahah !
I believe that it's the inexperienced interrogators that used physical harm frequently to get answers. The main reason that physical harm is not used that much anymore is that a ton of things could go wrong, most of the time the person being interrogated will start saying things that he believes the interrogator wants to hear or give contradicting information - thus wasting time and making information extracting more difficult.
Sorry but why are you talking? Didnt i just say RMC? and yes i know about the SBS and SAS. But i still wouldnt say Commandos are a "tiny" level away from SBS. Apart from most of the applicants are RMC there is still a lot of difference, considering they are a very "hush hush" organization The fact you said "opinionly" has made my day
Weren't too hot 'behind enemy lines' when 3 of their comrades were captured by a couple of unarmed Libyan farmers and Cameron was on telly pleading for them not to be harmed lol.
Tristan Lane What bullshit stories do you refer to? This one? - www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12658054

brendan w The bullshit part would be where you say they were captured by unarmed Libyan farmers. Source reads Libyan Police arrested the SAS who were acting as diplomats, (which means not hiding or escape and evade) and by the way Libyan police are very much armed...
Tristan Lane They were SAS sneaking around someone elses' country, got caught and Camerons' whining on the news about them being returned unharmed. Stop denying the facts.
Tristan Lane Your ''special forces'' were captured and Cameron was indeed on telly whining about them being released unharmed. If you prefer to be pedantic about the small detail of it all i think you simply cannot accept the facts. What the hell were they doing in Libya anyway? Did the Libyans also attack your country and they were there ''fighting for our country''? Britiain seems to excel at attacking countries that neither attacked, or threatened, them, calling it ''fighting for our country'' and then clearing off to leave a much bigger mess than before. Do you disagree or have i missed something?
Just thought I would answer the ? for you. If you put the condom into a sock to support it then you can get about 1.2 litres of water into the condom to carry with you as a water bottle.
