This is a great video, the trick with the dynamic object label is something I will definitely use in the future. Something the video glosses over a bit is where the button bar values come from in example 5. Click Stu's paper in the video description for a detailed explanation of how this works. In the paper, the table that holds the label values is called a "utility data set"
Thank you for the feedback! I am glad you found this useful and am so happy that you read the paper. I agree, the utility dataset is indeed helpful for this use case.
Thank you for the good introduction. One question: how can I set the defaut value of a parameter dynamic? For example, I have a datatable with data from Jan to Dec and a slider from Jan to Dec and I want to start with Jun, next time I call the report, I want start with Oct as the default, depends on data value. I need something like a query to determine the korrekt value. No way is, every time open the report and change the default value manually, especially you have many reports.
This is the type of question that is best answered by taking some of our Visual Analytics classes, or working with Tech Support or posting in the Community Forums. It would be very hard to post detailed instructions here in the RU-vid feedback area, since we can't post screenshots. In addition, it would be better for you to get specific help based on your version of Visual Analytics and your version of SAS Viya. To open a track with Tech Support, fill out the form at this link: 2.sas.com/6054ObaK0 . To post in the Community Forums, refer to this forum: 2.sas.com/6055ObaKF . You sure can! When you add two tables to Visual Analytics, you can map columns from two different data sources together, so they can interact with each other. You can find data mapping in the Data Source Menu. When you map one column in a table to another column in a table, you can perform interactions between the two based on that column. For more information on data mapping, see SAS documentation: 2.sas.com/6058i8ayo
@@SASUsers Unfortunately, Map Data must have the same element or content in both parties to link the tables in the event that the same element or content is not available, it cannot create a link
I tried to circumvent the data so that I merge the two tables into some but because of the inability to fetch custom categories in the merge process I stopped
It is not possible to create an interaction between two tables that do not share at least one common element. One potential solution to create a filtering action with a control is to use parameters to take values from one table and pass them as an advanced filter into another object or table, but this is a very manual process and not recommended unless there is a specific use case for it. If you have further questions, we recommend opening a technical support ticket.
