Sasha Cohen skates to "Hurt" by Christina Aguilera at the 2007 Marshalls Showcase. (Possibly Challenge) SIDE NOTE~ I love that little hair clips she has on ^^
Still think this is one of the most beautiful, mesmerising and stunning routines I have ever seen. I cannot stop myself coming back to watch this constantly, it's ethereal, goosebumps and near tears every time.
This performance was the Perfect Storm. The skating, the choreography, the lyrics and the vocals all mesh together in a way that takes your breath away.
I really hate all the new rules they have for figure skating. It made me sick the last Olympics that Sasha had to do all those jumps If left on her own ... she is ... A joy, mesmerizing, poetry in motion, and so much more !!
Wow, my parents will never be able to afford me that dress. It's so many crystals so dazzling. But, it doesn't matter how you look, it's how you can express the music with such moves like how Sasha did. No one will be better than you Sash. You rock.
I was first mesmerized by figure skating when Sasha skated at nationals in 2002, and since then have watched many lady figure skaters that came before and after her. Sasha is truly unparalleled in that she has an ample repertoire of unique creative moves that only she can execute to their perfection. Her spirals, of course, are timeless and Russian splits are over the top impressive, but that spin at the end... is other-worldly
@MichaelBat I dont remember when was the last time a saw a FS performance on TV, now the new fs rules require many jumps?, that`s a pity that the judges are more interested in jumps and overlook the spins that are my favorite part of FS.
I think we miss the most simplest explanation for why she stumbles or missed her jumps. She’s elegant. She’s just not too strong. When you are hurling down at the ground with the strength of over 400 pounds of pressure. Your hips, knees, ankles and toes have to be strong enough to carry that pressure. She should have only been required to do one or two jumps and then let her skate on her artistic talents. Her highlight is her lines, her arch, and her ability to draw you into the music. She’s just not a good technical performer. SB was excellent technically and had perfect lines with the strength to carry out her jumps. But clearly they didn’t want that talent in her body. So we must settle for what value we can get here.
She's "not too strong"? She was second in the world at the Olympics and obviously had no trouble landing any of her crazy tripple jumps. You can't expect her to stay in top-form as an adult no longer competing - this is a show.
Um, showcase competitions have props. She had no props in this. I think it was technical or artistic. But, Sasha Cohen is a skating artist. One of my idols. I hope to be as good as her one day. My dream, like hers was, is to make it to the olymipics in 2018. 7 years til I'm 18 and old enough to compete in them :)
