Sasha Rubel, Public Policy Lead, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning in Europe and MENA, Amazon Web Services, explains AWS's belief that the design, development and deployment of AI systems, including generative AI, has to respect the rule of law and human rights. This includes the values of equity, privacy and fairness.
She also points out that technologies like generative AI are bringing new questions linked to things like privacy and bias to the forefront. AWS asks what safeguards it and other actors can put in place to mitigate the bias that can be generated or perpetuated by foundation models. She also covered AWS's Titan Foundation Models that detect and remove harmful content.
