Second video of my satay series. If you missed the first video to watch how I made my chicken satay, here is the link, • Satay | Chicken Satay ...
This video, I will show you how I made my satay peanut sauce from scratch using a traditional red skin peanuts. You can use the satay sauce not only for your satay skewers, but it goes well as a dipping sauce for any other barbeque meat or vegetables and even with plain rice! I hope you enjoy watching this video including a short clip on a walking tour of Melbourne CBD west end, Docklands to get my peanuts at an Asian supermarket

My mom also told me to rub the peanuts (just grab a handful then rub them vigorously) then put them in the mesh food cover (i'm not sure if that's a thing in malay) then sieve the skin to the ground (not inside the house of course) but I hate that method so I just peel the peanuts one by one 😂. It's really hard on your back if you have to stand for such a long time to peel the peanuts!

Thanks for sharing this @thinv1 I’m glad I wasn’t the only one doing it this way. I tried doing it one at a time and it takes too long. How about sit down. Watch the TV while peeling the skin one by one 😂 less painful on your feet. That’s what I usually do if it takes time to peel something in bulk 😂 Cheers, Victor

Thank you for your nice comment @Vadivalakee Lingam This is a dipping sauce for “satay”. It is a Malay word that refers to meat in a skewer cooked over flaming charcoals, and served with a spiced peanut dipping sauce. You can also use this sauce to flavour a stir fry dish. It is just as good and tasty. Cheers, Victor

@@foodtripwithvictor Thanks Victor. I also thought so. My friends friend makes yummy noodles and she uses a sauce closer to like this but I am not sure. So please let me know what kind of sauce she mixes with that noodles. Please let me know the name of the sauce if you know. She uses bokchoy and tofu. But it’s okay for non vegetarians too. Your recipes are very good and very unique.You are very talented.

If you keep it in a glass jar, how long can it last?
@foodtripwithvictor
@foodtripwithvictor Год назад
I’ve kept it in the fridge for a couple of weeks, and in the freezer for a couple of months. But don’t reheat it over and over again to restore in the fridge. Best kept in smaller amount in separate jars. Take out what you want to use. Once reheated, try and use it up. If not, try and use up within 2-3 days.

After watching a couple videos, I have suggestion with garlic. It's going into the blender, so I wouldn't peel or chop it. Use a garlic press; it's so fast and easy if it needs to be reloaded a few times.

Looks, nice and no coconut milk. I bet you could educate us on recipes with or without it or if its just a white thing lol.
@foodtripwithvictor
@foodtripwithvictor 2 года назад
Ha ha...@Steve R. Some people do add coconut milk. it is fine. Not a white thing. Some people even use the peanut butter from the supermarket that you use to spread on your toast. I learnt how to eat peanut butter strawberry jam from a hosted American family when I was in US. Since then, I am hooked on peanut butter jam sandwich! But I won't use a jar peanut butter to make my peanut sauce. Ha ha. Cheers, Victor

I always thought that Malaysian satay sauce had coconut milk like the Thai one. Also can I use any chilli... i have a feeling I would like it hotter so I'm wondering if Scotch bonnet wouldn't ruin the flavour
@foodtripwithvictor
@foodtripwithvictor 2 года назад
Hi @Mukhtar Albahlani..some families do add coconut milk in making the satay sauce. As for Scotch bonnet chili pepper..I haven’t used it before so I wouldn’t know the answer. However from reading some articles on the net, it is extremely hot 🥵 . As you know in cooking, sometimes we need to adjust to suit our own palate and tastes and what’s available locally. I hope you will try it and substitute with the chili peppers and tell me what you think. Cheers, Victor
