Dylan Hickey yea i've seen them. i love them! he's so good and it's great to get to learn from him w/o having to pay 60 bucks an hour for it. :D i know satchel is a goofball but russ is a fantastic guitar player! \m/
Dylan Hickey yea...how fucking awesome is that!? huge PG fan. ever since mr big. big hair and spandex for life! xD \m/ if i met both of them i could die happy! :D
This guy totally reminds me of the metal heads I knew at GIT. Fucking hilarious! Oh, and those guys could all play too. Really great tone here dude. I'm having flashbacks.
Momo Bobo Ah, well that explains it then. :d I was actually in the same class as Paul Gilbert, so I know all about him. I have never heard mention of Satchel Teaching there though. Cool stuff!
No, I don't remember anybody by that name. Was he in the same class as Paul and myself? I doubt it, because I think I would remember somebody like Satchel. I remember most of the "memorable" players from that class.
He's actually 4 years younger than PG so chances are they probably didn't study together. I believe they played together in a band called The Electric Fence. I just know from reading up on him that Satchel taught there in the early 90s and there are clips of him demonstrating some speed picking from that era.
itsthebushbavarian I know right you would think he is always a half step down. Then you have to take an hour out of your life just to retune again and again.
+Radon Smith It's probably baked maple. Guthrie Govan has that on his signature model. There are different amounts of time they "cook" it to have the color desired. Also could be a version of Birds eye maple or tiger maple.
Nope not baked, just a really dirty fretboard. This was one of his main touring guitars (along with the white pacer which was ever dirtier) until he signed with charvel
Can someone explain why the French subtitles regard to the notes he mentions, as DO, RE, SI instead of the letters C, A and so on? Is it French custom to do so in music theory? Thanks in advance :)
Thanks a lot for the reply! So is it only when discussing the steps in a scale or for chords as well? If used in a scale context, how do you come about scales with more than 8 notes? And how about songs that change key?
Russ very underrated guitarist, same scenario as schon, schenker, being very well rounded guitarists, fluentcy off the charts. People vote for complete finality tracts, but without guitarists like russ, schon, or schenker, few more not mentioned, these are just/3, that are off any charts, tracts are meaningless. Russ not as well known/popular, due to sales is what people vote towards, but actuality, Russ is a very good guitarist, with alot to offer his audiences. Not a lack within variety guitarist, he's well rounded. Some one mentioned schon was just extraordinary within one catagory/blues, this is example within particular realism within actually knowing a true musician, next to a cookie cutter musician. None could touch schons runs, within even a double neck 12-string guitar, while schon playing lady 2 custom Floyd equipped 6-string, leaving 12-string within land time forgot. 6-extra strings, yet runs no where even near schons legacy runs.
I looked it up on wiki and this is it I guess: The Kramer Pacers Satchel uses are made out of USA manufactured parts rather than off the shelf Kramer Pacer guitars manufactured in Korea and Indonesia. The most noticeable difference is the bubinga skunk stripe on the back of the necks on all of his guitars. He currently uses a Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 pickup in the bridge, and a Seymour Duncan 59' in the neck, and an original Floyd Rose tremolo with an EVH D-Tuna is fitted to all his guitars. He uses D-Addario EXL Super Light (.09 -.42) gauge strings tuned a half-step down to E flat(Eb).
Clearly this went right over your head. He is in character. Russ is actually a very skilled, school trained player. His band makes fun of 80s hair metal.
