Shame the SD is not UHS-II.. I wonder why they slow the usb c to 5gb/s? To provide enough bandwidth for everything else I guess? I wish someone would make a portable hub like this but with thunderbolt 3 protocol. They could keep usb pass through at 10 gb's and still provide 2 or 3 usb 3.0 ports and possibly UHS-II card reader :)
Has anyone had any issues plugging in an external SSD Drive? I have two Sandisk SSD portable drive 1TB and 500GB that I use frequently. And ive read some issues on Amazon with people saying that it wouldn't read their external drive, but they were probably talking about HDD portable drives
One thing I always wonder about this hub and can not find info.. does it provide enough power to say run a flash drive in a USB 3 port and a samsung T5 into the usb c through port?
That is a good question. I wish I have the answer for you but unfortunately I do not have the T5 or similar drive to test. Let me ask around if I can borrow one and try.
wow thank you so much for your kind help. Currently I can't locally find the hub in the imac pro space grey so there is no real hurry. The other thing I just realised (duh! lol) is that this thing blocks some of the imac's air intake.
@@teddym2808 yeah I was worried About the air intake being blocked. But I read somewhere that someone email the company asking about it. But the reply was that it's not sth we should be concerned about. So yeah
Mate I have read the company's direct replies to people on Amazon about it. "Minimal effect on airflow". That means it has some effect. IMac Pro's have challenged thermals as it is.. I decided against this and got the caldigit thunderbolt 3 hub which is amazing, truly. It's silver and not attached but what a piece of gear.. it has a usb c 10 GB/S on it, can run a hard drive on every port as external power, not portable but for an imac pro doesn't need to be in my opinion. I have a G-Drive 1TB SSDR off the USB C of it, a sandisk 256gb SSD CZ880 in the USB 3 port and a startech duel 2.5" raid enclosure on the thunderbolt 3 daisy chain port (the startech is usb -c but of course compatible with TB3 and gets the full 10GB's as the final device).. It's all working incredibly well, truly, I have only tested it today so far as got it yesterday, but solid as a rock so far.. and the crazy thing is that I tested all the drive speeds attached directly to mac and attached to ports on the TS3+ and it's identical. I feel like getting another one for the second thunderbolt bus as the imac pro has 2 individual busses over the 4 ports, but it's too expensive at 479 AU. Anyway, I highly recommend it, without hesitation. Cheers
