Satellite 6.8 integrates with Leapp in RHEL 7 to allow you to do in-place upgrades of multiple servers at a time to RHEL 8, managed by the satellite server.
the Leapp data needed is available at: access.redhat.com/articles/36...
High level process for in-place upgrade:
1. Install satellite leapp plugin
2. Ensure that target servers have access to both RHEL 7 and RHEL 8 content
3. Install leapp-data on target servers
For all target servers:
4. Run pre-upgrade report
5. Fix any inhibitors that come up
6. re-run pre-upgrade report until clean
7. Run upgrade
8. Validate and apply any RHEL 8 changes recommended by the pre-upgrade report

Great work Calvin! Is it possible to use Leapp (or another way) to upgrade RHEL6 to RHEL7?

Unfortunately not. RHEL 6 to RHEL 7 uses a different in-place upgrade mechanism (redhat-upgrade-tool). I suppose the satellite could help with the upgrade but its not integrated the way that leapp is.

@@calvinsmith5109 Sad to hear it...Can I ask another question? I did a package update on my RHEL 7.7 using the sattelite server. After that update, if I go to console and type cat /etc/redhat-release, I can see a new version (7.9), but on my satellite dashboard still the oldest one (7.7). Is there any way to change this information on Content Hosts automatically?

@@rrruhena you can run ‘subscription-manager facts -update’ to have the host send all the latest facts back to Satellite which it now report the correct release information.
