One thing everyone is going to have to do is clear their shader cache when the update drops, otherwise I'm going to be replying to people that don't know what's up with their graphics on the forums for the 6 weeks after...

IMHO Its gameplay not graphics. Look on Minecraft huh? Hope we survive boys. Those 1300h are best times 👷🏼‍♂️ Have efficient day! #potatoSetupSquad #still Win7

It's definitely gameplay over graphics. Satisfactory is a 3D first person game that looks fairly realistic, however, so graphics are going to be a priority to the devs, I'm sure.

where did people got this wrong pronounciation of nvid? it's NOT: n(e)-vidia it's: (e)n-nvidia it's not that hard - or just say AMD if you can't say nvid the correct way

Glad you talked about the updated min specs, I've been losing my mind over reading the forums and seeing the amount of misinformation everywhere. Great job :)

Thanks! People are certainly justified in being worried, but I hope I can inject a little bit of calm into the conversation. It's not as bad as it seems!

1:22 I actually prefer the shots with Lumen off. I hope that's a feature that can be toggled on/off.
@kenricgrunwald1170

They did mention it will be a toggle option.
@SatisfactoryNews
@SatisfactoryNews Год назад
Yeah, they did mention you can turn it on or off, it will be a setting called "global illumination". And they wanted it to be a toggle since they're not officially supporting it. I do agree that it's a little too dark for my liking in those example shots, so I hope it looks better in other scenarios.

With the chaos physics you can now also use vehicles to kill the hostile fauna. Vehicles used to have no effect on fauna before.

I think I'm probably very late to the party as update 8 already drop on experimental. But as a person who doesn't own a desktop PC and only has an almost 10 years old mid-tier laptop. I can confirm that GTX 860m can run Satisfactory Update 8 experimental with some issues. Well, the graphic issue is a normal one and I hope they fixed it. But performance in the 'Low' setting isn't that different from update 7 stable. In fact, there are some performance gains in loading time and smoothness of the game. So, as long as your graphic card supports DX12 I think it is safe to say that it will probably run Satisfactory in Unreal 5 just fine. Although, the Geforce Experience suggests the game run on 1366x768 resolution. But I prefer to run on full HD (1080p). Yes, there are some performance losses but it can still run 60 FPS fine unless I run into my almost 300 Turbo Fuel power generators...

Wow! That's honestly very impressive. That certainly speaks to how well the game is made, overall. I'm glad you're still able to enjoy the game on that older laptop.

why does he talk about what a game engine is? We already know. But very nice video!!

Lets be honest if you own a 1650 this is probally not the game for you.

Unfortunately there is some truth to that. That's what we get for the game looking so good.

i never got how people expect newer games to still run on their calculator from the early 2000s ...

I think people just don't fully grasp how quickly tech changes. And they may also still be mostly playing the same games they've been playing for a decade. I can't blame anyone for not keeping up with the latest gaming hardware as much as some of the rest of us. It is pretty funny though, what some people think their ancient PCs should be able to do.

Be interesting see how this works on my 11-year-old PC, it's probably going to blow it up it's got a 980 graphics card and CPU is practically a museum piece at this point Sandy bridge i7 and to top her all off of 32 gigs of ramp.
@SatisfactoryNews
@SatisfactoryNews Год назад
Based on the new minimum specs, it sounds like it'll run, especially if you're able to run it now. I wish we knew what settings the "minimum spec" was designed for. But the 980 still supports DirectX 11 and is about the same or a little better than a 1650 in terms of raw performance. As long as that CPU isn't holding you back too much in the game right now, I'd imagine you'll be okay! Just at lower or medium graphics settings of course.

@@SatisfactoryNews I originally ran this game on a 7700k which sadly I was forced into an upgrade after a memory control issue, unable to locate but figured 7 years almost was good enough. And for shits and giggles I ran the game on the 7700k IGPU before tearing down and actually got pretty decent frames on the lowest settings, got around 15 on the lowest settings but with quite a few performance tanks due to the afore mentioned issue which ultimately ended in Blue Screen. Min specs are basically universally there to provide a base line of lowest settings with a stable 30 FPS, any lower FPS and it can become jarring and actually cause medical issues due to the chugging and locking while also listing driver supported hardware. Edit: Gpu before the PC upgrade was a 3070ti at the time of getting into Satisfactory.
@SatisfactoryNews

That's awesome. I tried it on my laptop's integrated graphics (Ryzen 5700U) and it got like 20 - 30 FPS on lowest possible settings but it looked pretty awful haha.

As a person who watched that update from Coffee Stain. I can honestly say that unreal 5 will be a god send for both low end PC's and the higher end user. For the lower end performance improvements and for higher end optionals that you can turn on to eat up your frames and make it look noice or give you plenty of overhead so you can multitasking (satisfactory in the background as you play warcraft or something) As for the specs change, they aren't the only games to do it in the past, world of tanks min specs have changed quite a bit as the level of technology has improved. The main reason a lot of people don't complain about it is because it's usually a discrete change to the recommended specs, lowering the GPU requirement from a 2070 to a 2060 for example. And its always a good idea to revise your min spec on a game that's still being developed as old graphics cards stop receiving drivers from AMD and Nvidea, as Coffee stain mentioned it was a 750ti they had lying around the studio originally. While the old tech is still usable, it's pretty much at end of life and is likely to pack in anyways and so most users tend to upgrade their PC every 7 to 12 years. We do it with out cars usually every 10 to 15.

Well said! Thank for the detailed comment. I was surprised to hear as much outcry as there was, because many games have done this with basically no impact on the game. I'm looking forward to seeing how performance changes.

AMD has sadly fallen victim to driver issues over the last few years. I don't recommend AMD GPUs to most people who need to do work with their computers, but the value for purely gaming is impossible to beat!
