For the FPS, often you can just enable VSync. Make sure vsync is not forced on or off in the control panel for your video card, then use "Use VSync" in games. This will limit the framerate to the screen refresh rates. In some games it might have an impact and you might feel it choppy, but for multiple games it will be fine, and your video card can take a break.

Satisfactory is planned to have a fleshed out story too with an administrator you talk to and a space station you're building, but Coffee Stain said that's going to be like, one of the last things they work on.

Oh god no, I have horrible flashbacks to Starbound now, where the 1.0 was completely ruined by shoehorned story and linear plot progression. Satisfactory is somewhat linear already due to progression system, but this can still horrtibly backfire...

I think my brother would enjoy this. He's pretty good at these factory type games. He builds super complex layouts that make my head hurt trying to figure out how they work.

I absolutely love that the inserters can just snag stuff off the belts as it flies by, that opens up a lot of conveyer spaghetti potential

You know that beginning door where it gives you the pickaxe? I got the pickaxe, and I did not go through the door, but instead, with power wash simulator flowing through my veins, spent countless hours excavating the entire beginning building. It was completely a waste of time, and I regret my decisions, but the tutorial area was completely cleared of all plants, stone, mud, dirt, and moss, minus that one type of stone you can't mine. Then I went outside the door and broke when I realized what I was actually supposed to do in this game.

We'll never stop trying to push the graphical envelope into better and better simulations, IMO. But, we are in the "post-modern" phase of video game creation where photorealism is no longer the main (or only) goal in game visual design. Look at how popular pixel/sprite based game visuals are these days.

It is a bit dark (lighting wise) but maybe in the bigger cave system it won't be as bad. But then also I am very distracted at the moment so that could be part of it.

This reminds me of Wanders never leave the vault challenge in Fallout 4? But on a more evolved level. anyone else get those vibes and would like to have more of this in particular?

It's absolutely the same vibes, but with more actual content. FWIW I love automation games and really want to cover more of this one in particular in the future. Just gotta figure out how to fit it in.

Off to a good start. I wonder how much of an impact the story will have, as in will it make you chose distinct paths that unlock specific recipes for you factory ? I'm intrigued.

It snagged the best elements from a lot of games, let's hope they learned all the lessons from those. Quality of life inventory stuff being top priority, weirdly, otherwise it feels a decade old in comparison.

I can't find ANY information on the voice actress - the game doesn't have any info on its 'cast' since it's still just a Demo. Whoever she is, she's great and brings some really nice Jennifer Hale vibes. I even tried joining their Discord to see if she's named but no dice.

You can limit framerate in the nvidia settings in windows.

You could set a global frame limit in the drivers (if Nvidia, can't remember ams), the 3d conf has a option for that. Prevents all the games going to the moon.

Its hard for me to play games like this sometimes because i just want to do everything right away and i got no patience at all so i get stressed out so i just lose interest pretty fast and get nothing done. Just wish i had patience for it because the game seems like a lot of fun

Oh... I watched some other streamers run this on the pre-alpha build. Already found several points of improvement since then, missing textures found and you're no longer working for GLaDoS. (Though the last bit might actually be a negative. ;) )

Modpacks like Angelbob's or Nullius for Factorio give you options to keep all that environment destruction in check. Nullius in particular is about terraforming a dead world, so you're outright forbidden from releasing harmful stuff back into the environment.
