SATRAN is my latest product. It's an open source Az/El rotator controlled over wifi with a free android app that predicts the position of any satellite and pinpoints it with an antenna. Perfect for listening in on spacecrafts with Software Defined Radio and catch telemetry and more.
If you have a 3D-printer you can buy only the electronics from my webshop (satran.io) and print most parts yourself since the STL-files are open source.
The onboard microprocessor connects to your smartphone over Wifi on your local LAN and can be controlled automatically with my free and easy to use android app.
Visit www.satran.io for more info
Also, don't forget to subscribe to my channel so you don't miss out on all the cool stuff...

really nice .... congratulations. but ...... the antenna must be mounted with vertical polarization for the satellites, while now it is mounted with horizontal polarization .. you have to mount it rotated 90 degrees and it does not need to drop below 0 degrees of elevation. Congratulations again.

What’s the angular precision, i.e. what’s the smallest possible angle it can move in either Alt or Az?

Hey. Nice project. Q a): The antenna you're using here is a 70cm band antenna. Will it be stable enough to hold an 2m band yagi? b): Where can I buy the pcb where I have to solder the ESP8266 on? I want to print all the parts myself. But I need the PCb. Right? Or: Where can I find the controll board schematics?

Possibly, if you fasten the antenna in the middle to make it quite balanced and have a mount that allows for such a large array. Also fine tuning the stepper drivers can give more torque but might require heatsinks and a better power supply. Both kits and complete controller boards (including nodemcu and 2x stepper drivers) will be available for purchase from my website.

This is awesome, and exactly what I have been looking for. Any idea if it would carry the common arrow sat antenna, if counterbalanced? If so, there are a ton of those antennas out there, including me!

The weight should be fine, just not quite certain on how to best mount it. Perhaps somewhere in the middle of the antenna and tilt it 45 degrees so the elements dont get hung up on the base. So be sure to tell all your friends, I'm working hard to get the next batch ready for sale...

@@swedishinventor How much will they cost?
@swedishinventor
@swedishinventor 3 года назад
@@MeineVideokasetten It will cost approximately 200EUR for a full kit, but if you 3D-print yourself you can almost cut the price in half, and save even more if you just buy the controller board and source the motors, screws etc on your own.

Looks good, but it seems that it won't track polar orbiting satellites without doing something like astronomers call a "meridian flip" as the satellite passes overhead.

Correct, at the moment the app does not have this functionality however the rotator can be controlled over HTTP and I hope and strive for other software packages to develop drivers to allow controlling of a satran also. Also the app is constantly under development, and a new much more advanced version is also on the drawing board...

@@swedishinventor A functionality like tracking polar orbiting satellite would be great to have. If not on this version hopefully on the next one. Fingers crossed :)

Everything in the store is discontinued.....whats going on?
@swedishinventor
@swedishinventor 3 года назад
Thats correct, the MK1 has been discontinued. The first version had too many missing features that impacted the demand, and a sensitive design that made it a bit error-prone . If I get time on my hands in the future I might make a new version. But all the files and documentation are open source and available at satran.io so feel free to build your own!

Congratulations on your rotator. Eventually, I will return to development of the W5AIR Rotator. I've been developing a CNC router for the purpose of cutting parts into aluminum. I have a lot of problems to overcome with the rotator. But, at least it works with PST Rotator. I chose to go with the protocol from AMSAT which seems to work. ru-vid.com-sBmOeE3ByU
