My name is Liberty Bleeds and I am a silverholic. I feel you brother. It's hard to hold out when you can get that quick fix so easily. Silver junkies! ✌🏼🇺🇸
It's true for me too. My guy had junk silver under spot and I couldn't refuse. I also partied hard and spent a small fortune, otherwise I could of added another oz. Sweet Franklin half.
That A-Mark round is beautiful! I have the same problem... I would like more gold, but it is so easy to buy vintage silver now instead of waiting for gold.
This is why I put myself on a budget. I give myself a set amount of money for precious metals purchases in a given pay period. Some of it obviously goes to Silver, but the rest of it gets put back for a Gold purchase, usually a 1/4 Gold Eagle. Right now, I'm sitting on about $480. As soon as I hit $800, I'll go in and buy my 1/4 ounce and probably a bit of Silver with whatever is left over from the $800. If I just walked in with all my money, I'd end up never being able to buy Gold. I just bought an identical A-Mark back about 6 weeks or 2 months ago. I love that old vintage Silver from the 70s & 80s. I've definitely been trying to focus a bit more on some fractional Gold. The price of Gold & Silver never really matter to me. As long as I'm able to buy ever pay period, every month, or even quarterly with what I've got budgeted, I'll keep buying. When my budgeted money won't buy a single piece of Silver when saved for a full quarter of a year, I'll probably stop buying. That would mean that a Mercury or Roosevelt dime would have to cost well north of $400. If I see those days, I know it'll be totally over. Absent that kind of price, I'll just continue to buy. I'm always going to know that my purchasing power is safer in Silver or Gold than it will ever be in a fiat dollar system of any kind (hi-tech or low-tech). Keep stacking!
I've been thinking about fractional gold as well, and I heard a strong argument against goldbacks...do you think they will ever be accepted at enough businesses to justify the high premiums?
Try buying gold first then get your silver. I buy one 1/10th gold every week then get my silver with the discretionary funds left over. Your plan doesn't need to be weekly or the amount doesnt need to be 1/10th. Do what works for you, of course.
I do have a few goldbacks. The designs and artistry on them are beautiful. I can't wait for the Texas goldbacks to come out. I could see Texas goldbacks as a collector piece. For stacking, goldbacks are not good at all. I don't think stores will catch one. Most of these kids can't count change back. Images asking them to know the gold prices.
