For years, I had the opinion that this SF was the worst one, until someone told me about the history of Raul Julia and how he worked so hard on this film despite of cancer. I mean, not just the game, but the SF: Movie as a whole.
The only truly bad thing about the series of SF the movie media is the arcade game made by Incredible Technologies. The movie is, to me at least, is in "so bad it's great" category, while the console games were slightly jankier SF2 Super Turbo with digitized sprites.
Technically Pit Fighter did the digitized actor thing first before Mortal Kombat did. So in reality, Mortal Kombat's digitized actors copied Pit Fighter's
For you, the day World of Longplays graced youtube with this video was the most important day of your lives. But For World of Longplays, it was Wednesday...
Listen: the arcade SF The Movie game is a different engine by Incredible Technologies (the Time Killers and/or Golden Tee folks), I get having a beef with that. But the PS1/Saturn SF The Movie? Different beast, I mean, for all intents and purposes, *it's Capcom-developed romhack of Super Turbo* using the arcade SF Movie visual assets, it's certainly not the most beloved SFII iteration, but it's basically Super Turbo, how bad could it be?
funny enough I just imported a Saturn and a handful of games so I'm always on the lookout for more, this one may definitely make the list! it was jank af, but certainly closer to super turbo than that weird arcade version by incredible technologies, lol. also like the really engrishy- name for it, 'real battle on film'
I always wondered what would happen if you beat him. I could never do it - he would always win. I’m pretty sure the game was doing some MEAN input reading during that battle.
@@ht_100 Indeed he is. Fun Fact: You might just be talking to the only guy in 20-someodd years who actually bothered to notice and, more importantly, spread that information around.
Jean Claude van Damme was originally going to be Johnny cage in the 1st MK film but Linden Ashby took the part instead due to the fact that jean Claude van Damme turned it down because he chosen guile for street fighter. and if it wasn't for Linden Ashby playing johnny cage, he would not appear in the MCU.
I love that they gave every character their own stage with the console version (Capcom developing). Funny how Chun, fully dressed, gets the morgue. Sagat gets Bison's private room? They're really well done and feel like the movie, though. They blend in completely newly drawn frames of the character's to create new frames, like Ken's HK at 31:36. It smoothens the animation and to make it feel like "real" SF games, but can stand out a bit. Ken's special move voice samples, replacing the original "Dragon!" and "Hurricane", sounds so off for Damian Chapa. His Stage with the plain prison camp wall is also one of the worst here.
I have a copy of the na version in my collection still. It's goofy, but I had fun with it. I'm surprised that M. Bison, Vega and Balrog didn't have their Japanese names.
I watched Street Fighter the movie 🍿 years ago and I played SF2 at a restaurant and on World of Entertainment that looked like a Nintendo Switch I have and I have SF4 and I’d give it a 💯.👍🇺🇸💯
I completed SF2 on my World of Entertainment that looked like a Nintendo Switch and I also played SF4 and I’m skilled at it so I wouldn’t have to worry about spending my quarters like I used to and I no longer have to spend my quarters on that now I have a Xbox 360 and a lot of games on my shelf and hand held ones and I’m good at saving my quarters and my life is kinda good 😊 that gets my dna 🧬 on video games 🎮 going and I never get tired of this stuff and thank you 🙏 for selecting my comment that I sent you and that’s what friends are for and a 💯.👍🇺🇸💯
This was a port made by capcom, they took all the art they made for the arcade game and pasted it over SF2 turbo engine. The game plays like a slower SF2T rather than anything like the arcade.
This game never got the respect it deserved. It was always ridiculed and heavily criticized. I think it’s a great game. I will say that the console versions are vastly different from the coin-op version. The coin-op is superior, but both versions are great games. I won’t lie, though….when I first bought the console version, I was HEAVILY disappointed at how it turned out in comparison to the coin-op version. I was expecting a carbon copy of the coin-op, but instead we got this…choppy animation and all.
