I am from Tamil Nadu. To watch his movies and listen to his music I learnt Bangla to some extent. I watched his Pather Panchali 20 to 25 times. He is genius. No can reach him. Lots of love from Tamil Nadu.
In his golden time of creativity, your 'Sir' kept utter silent about the newly born state Bangladesh. The man neither spoke a single word to Indian media about Bangladeshi refugees and their miserable lives in the camps., nor did he produce any creative work whatsoever on this issue. His Feluda travels the whole of India, Hong Kong, London- but never feels the drive of solving any case where he actually hails from. This is called 'denial', my friend. The reality is, undoubtedly a genius, Ray was not a friend of Bangladesh.
@@md.nayeem3616 There were a lot more people who didnt spoke about Bangladesh, does that mean we should not call them sir? or we should not respect them?
unfortunately, he is not. He may be a great film maker, but he is full of inferiority complex that British rule left. Backward he meant someone who cant speak English. what a shame.
@@RRR-sr5vc exactly. These persons have a backward mentality Why do they want to find life from movies.? Be open and stay away from intellectual theft.
@@RRR-sr5vc He was not talking about those who cant speak english but those who cannot see beyond their sentiments. Not even for the sake of storytelling. Padmavat scene proves India has not grown up with sentimental problems even now.
This guy is a genius. He is absolutely right about India's audience and everything else he says in this interview. And this was in 1989! He was bloody brilliant!
I highly doubt he would tempt his way towards technology....His vision was always towards Drama , Story & creativity with limited resources. Granted, he would have made a single film to break the barriers like Spielberg's Jaws & Jurassic park but eventually would return to his roots, which is classical Drama and Story telling. Shares the same if not superior filmmaking DNA like Spielberg, Scorsese and Kurosawa. Amazing Creativity and Superior Talent.
@@Raghav2384 yes, I agree. The comment is not applicable to Ray but it's definitely applicable to Kubrick. He always embraced technological innovations.
দাদা, তোমাদেরকে এখানে দেখে খুব ভালো লাগলো। আজ হয়ত তোমরা উপযুক্ত attention পাচ্ছ না, but one day you guys shall be noticed. Keep it up! তোমাদের অসামান্য lyrics আর vocals
Nooo, now it has become even more Backward , like in the past atleast they made classic films , not good but still watchable but todayyy they made films like Himmatwala & Housefull 4 , wtf !!!!
mohan chandra mallampati Its German highly accented English brother. Not really correct way to pronounce. May be he studied in Europe in his teen life. Its like a North Indian speaking Telugu languge. It occurs to me that may be you liked his voice not his accent.
Explorer Independent its good to criticize and question the absolute, i appreciate ,however that has to be backed by independent talent one has, to show something new,to raise the bar,to contribute to the general knowledge.Until that happens we should observe and learn.Plz reply me when u become such a talent, when u have raised the bar, when u have incresed the already known knowledge.otherwise u will be called just a mediocre critic trying to play smart. Plz dnt bother to reply if u have not raised the bar. You will lose my respect of ur inquisitiveness.
I ‘m fan of the name of Satyajit Roy, now I’m fan of as a whole personality, the talk, the English accent and the energetic voice. Great man, the one you can proud of.
This man is one of a handful of the world's greatest film directors. Sadly, the vast majority of my fellow Americans have never even heard of him, much less seen his marvelous films. Akira Kurosawa said, and I paraphrase, "To go through life and not see the films of Satyajit Ray is to have gone through life without having seen the Sun and the Moon".
Satyajit ray is a great legendary film personality and what to say about greatest kavi Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore and our greatest Subhash Chandra Bose,,, but please don't take the name of fringe Amartya Sen along with them ,,, he is always against India,, against Hindu,, he is shame for our country...
When I was in 12th standard Pather panchali was shown in our school at that moment I have realised that this is film direction. This is Director. The world's best Film Director ever. The pefect English pronunciation I have ever heard by an Indian. pratidwanti, Middle man, Pather panchali my most favourite films of Ray sir. I am from Kerala the land of great directors like Bharathan, Padmarajan, Adoor Gopalakrishnan. But Satyaji Ray is the emperor of directors. A Satyajit Ray Devotee from Kerala🙏
He is the gold of Bengal. Some of Bengali directors have to born 10 times to be like him. He said, he doesn't like to make commercial movies because he is not here to make money, he is here as an artist. What a class !
Isn't it amazing.? I shared this video on Facebook today from a random fb page.. and after few hours it is recommended to me by RU-vid.. And obviously the voice Mr. Ray is a blessing for ears..♥️♥️
Mr satyajit Ray (sir)was a true artistic genius in cinema! He makes the audience feel human emotion on the screen, and every screen still is a beautiful portrait what talent, what a brilliant man!
My guru Satyajit Ray is the one who made me think of filming, he is not with us today, but he is on our heads like a bot tree. I bow to you, you were, you are, you will be in our bosom forever.
I'm just wondering if He had today's technologies in his cinemas then He probably got 1 oscar for 1 movie. He was that brilliant. he was the master of cinema.. Do you know that Stephen spielberg (as we admired as one of the greatest director of all time) took Satyajit ray's idea, Satyajit ray's concept and made ET (Satyajit Ray's movie name was The Alien). Satyajit Ray came with the same idea in 1960. way before stephon speilberg. YES in '1960' and we were crazy over Koi mil gaya in 20s (Infact Koi mil gaya's idea was way too similar with his story called 'Bankubabur Bandhu'). MOVIE INDUSTRY WILL NEVER GET A DIRECTOR LIKE HIM. He was the Kohinoor :)
India 's legendary film maker. Simple human being with great thinker and visualizer,Good Editor, best screen play writer and wonderful director of India's ever produce. Mr. ray hold record of maximum number of national awards received. 32 national award he received on various categories.
What an underrated genius! We can't say this enough. His films weren't made for the backward audiences of India, it was made for the well read, sophisticated and progressive masses of the world!
Mr. Sukumar Ray is feeling so proud of the creations of his genius son. Im a huge fan of Mr. Satyajit Ray and his creation. So many masterpieces has been created by this genius. World of cinema on his debt even his own peoples do not care
I remember watching Pather Panchali at the age of 8 in the mid 80s. I did not understand the language, as I was raised to speak Sylheti. Fortunately, it had subtitles. I remember a lump in my throat forming when the old lady passed away. The imagery still haunts me today. Wonderful film in every way.
Father of Indian cinema and its authentic storytelling. A realist and a visionary. Spoke facts, in order to improve and empower. Rather than pretending to live in an idealistic reality, conjured up by false pride and ignorance.
Can't believe we share the same ethnicity. Look at Tollygunge today. Mr Ray worked during Communist era, inspite of all political troubles he succesfully created classics. And this what Indian accent should be like. He understood economics of movie making and also created art. Today any dude with a cam wants to make a movie only to exploit his actresses. Shame.
Astounding unmatched class and personality with a very clear British English accent . The thing I like is that those days journalists and media honchos were courteous and respectful. They listened more rather interrupting and disrespecting the invited guests. These days its like a fish market.
He is ahead of his time. What a legendary & revolutionary film maker and writer he is. He created jems like feluda, professor shanku and never ending extraordinary films. He was the most valuable treasure of World cinema.... I mean I am in shortage of words to tell about him, in one word he is all time greatest and never forgettable human being , proud to be a Bengali ❤️
OMG. I am so lucky that I could hear Satyajit Ray's voice and actually see a video of his. What a great man! Such honesty and integrity about how he feels. He doesn't sugarcoat his disappointments. And at the same time I have also felt this vibe of humility in his talk. No pride from a man of his stature :)
Perception, Brilliance, Raw talent....The Legend..... That vision will never bee seen again.... he is the only one Late Mr Satyajit Dayanti Ray......a million bows to the Creator...
He made bengali movies which were more classy than bollywood. He won oscar on his own accord. Not like bollywood of today ,who win oscar by licking hollywood arse.
he licked many asses like James Ivory,Jean Renoir and when you study his work properly his work is heavily influenced by old hollywood classic but still he was a genius who never understood india
@@eloradasgupta5478 just because majority of Indian find his work boring doesn't mean they are backwards it just means he was making movies for different audience I never meant to be disrespectful to Ray he is genius but he never understood Indian audience because he studied Hollywood movies before starting his work but people liked Raj Kapoor, guru dutts , movies because it appealed to them more
mayur magadalwar the names which u have taken do not even stand at par with Rituparno Ghosh (one f d genius directors from bengal again) forget about Ray. If you say Ray did not understand India den I should say u must do some homework before commenting.
Satyajit Ray was a quintessential humanist who used the camera with empathy to tell stories. His films told stories in ways that only a humanist of his stature could🙏.
who the hell on earth "dares " to dislike this ....I think they suffer from some kind of psychological problem😑 FIRST REACH HIS HEIGHT AND THEN COME TO MEASURE HIS SUCCESS OR HIS VIEWS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT
Krishna Basu it's their opinion. Disliking a video won't shatter Satyajit Ray's legacy. His legacy is beyond this trivial matter of likes and dislikes.
Yes never repeated himself . Each film is so different so unique . You can watch it over n over again He is a detailed person the notebook says it all. Honest straight forward person . I wish we could have seen more of you .
