This is just so fantastic. In the 21 months Geoff has been making solo output the standard has just improved every single time & he started out with a high bar! Always love to hear his higher range get as much air time as the lower end.

I thought Geoffs rendition of High and Dry was quite emotional but this had me on the verge of tears! From the wonderful acting, the haunting quality of those incredible low notes to the plaintive tone in his lovely higher range, this is so, so beautiful! 💜 Loving your reactions, thank you! 😊👍

His bass line is quite impressive, but he has great higher registers. That's where I really appreciate him the most, with this song in particular

This has taken my number one song of his. His lows are used differently in this one. They really emphasize the emotion and agony.

I wonder if a lot of the added emotion factor on this one was due to the direction of Layne and Tony. They helped on the filming of this one, and they tend to lead with their emotions. In any case, it was wonderful to see. And great to hear Geoff highlighting more of his higher range. So beautiful!

Have you watched his version of High and Dry? It's mostly his upper register though there are some drops similar to the ones in this. It's an emotional performance like this one too so I'd definitely suggest checking it out if you haven't yet

The man is some sort of magician, sorcerer, wizard, something. Every time I hear this, every damn time, he brings me to tears. Every time. Love him, love you too.

This is what makes Geoff, Tim and Avi special. They can go super low, but they can go super high as well. That's what people love. They also have a thing for long hair which is a personal favorite of mine, so maybe that makes me biased lol

I loved this song when Bill Withers performed it at a concert opening for Blood Sweat and Tears. I am haunted by Geoff's performance, his troubles, his pain. It is remarkable.

I've given up on expectations. Geoff just picks a range and kills it - no limits. "Hmm, I'll do this part as high tenor...and then drop to bass". What is so amazing is that he isn't stressed in any part of his range. It's all clear, solid, and no stress.

Loved your reaction and your candor. I don't care how low or how high anyone goes, I care how beautiful their sound is when they do it. Also - some recognition for his increasing skill with videography. This one was a big step forward, moving from settings that provide ambiance, to a video that moves the narrative forward. "Time" was the real key here, from the fade sequences that let you know this is something happening not just now, but AGAIN - to the vocal stutter-stop (?what's that called?) on the word any TIME - to the background sounds that sound like a clock ticking... it may not all be consciously noticed, but it all comes through in the impact. And that focus - on time passing - wasn't part of the original. The word was there, but not the focus. And to me, THAT is the brilliance that defines Geoff as a real artist. I'm totally wowed by this performance. (I just realized that he did something similar w/ Dream On - turning it around to be an achingly sad recognition that 'the past is gone" instead of the future focused rock anthem of keep dreaming and moving forward. Something very similar in the mood here. Awed.)

I think the last 3 videos he has put out have really gone up a few notches in technicality, videography and arrangement.

From the first phrase, his voice settled in my bones and just sat there resonating, vibrating through the whole song.

The thing I find almost hilarious on this... Women listening to it say that this is the most romantic song they can think of... Men listening to it say it's the most depressing sound he can make.

It's no different than when a book gets made into a film. There's only so much a director/producer can do with time limits, budgets, etc, so things inevitably get changed/removed/so forth. Some people become such purists on what something is, that they don't have appreciation for what WAS created. It's your right to not like it, but don't hate on something simply because it's not your style. Geoff is great, as is Jeff Dunham, but I am leaning toward Laura. Haven't done HF in a while, especially compared to too many PTX.
