Mitch dealt with a lot of anxiety during The Sing-Off to the point where he almost left the show. I'm sure that's part of his reaction to himself...probably brings up memories of feeling that way.

Obviously each of them has matured so much over the years. But I feel like Mitch really found himself since then. He was so shy and reserved back then. I love sassy Mich.

You should check out Superfruit reacting to old performances. It goes way back to them as kids and teens in theater and high school. It’s great.

They were rather hard on themselves in this. They were rather hard on themselves during the show, too. Which is why they kept getting better and better every week, every song, every performance. I don't think they've stopped being hard on themselves yet, either. "We are our own worst critics." has been said by many people time and time again, usually those at the top of their profession, and I've found it to be true. So, seeing them react to themselves on the show, and hearing them be critical of themselves back then, doesn't really surprise me. Fun video, though. Catch you on the next one!

I agree with all of it. I do have a hunch that if they watched it now they might be more forgiving of their performances in a "aww we were so tiny" kind of way. They were too close in time to be able to have much of the nostalgic forgiveness watching it. I also find it funny how this video really highlights their different personalities!

Mitch cracks me up. There's another video out there (I've seen it) where they talk about stuff the producers put them through. All in all between the pressure of competing, pressure from producers to keep it, let's say, noncontroversial and then losing the promised recording contract it's a wonder THEY made it. It's because of them Acapella is where it's at. I watched them on Sing Off. They were something new and special. You just knew they were gonna be different. Great reaction. Thx Nick 😎

@@heidi_d No idea. It was one of those watching random PTX & SF videos nights. Probably was an interview. I just remember Scott and Mitch's disappointment that the producers totally excluded the LGBTQ factor on the teen outreach week. Also that they were constantly trying to make Mitch less feminine. May have been a SF video, just not sure.

I think they were more horrified by the wardrobe and choreography than their sound. But how fun to see them being such good sports about it all.

I appreciate them even more for the fact that they won the show, get the contract…get almost immediately dropped by the label but don’t give up. They knew they had something special so they just got on you-tube and started making their own videos. They are self made and earned every bit of their success. Oh and I couldn’t wait for you to see the Avi part…I knew you missed it on the show and you’d get a kick out of it 😂.

Avi can be quite funny. He started up his annual April Fool's joke this year after 2 years off during the pandemic lockdown. He is a teacher and mentor though every summer at A Capella Academy (ACA) for 12-18 year old international students so he, as one of the students said in an ACA experience video - "there goes Avi being wholesome again".

I watched season 1 but didn’t finish season 2 because i didn’t really like who was left. I would not have watched season 3 BUT my daughter came home from school and said her PE teacher’s son was going to be on season 3 so of course I had to watch it. Her PE teacher was ‘Mr Kaplan’. So to see PTX explode on sing off was amazing! This reaction is so great! @@karend1577 they were! I think it was 2014 when PTX came back to Visalia to perform at Avi’s high school. I’ve sat in that theater soo many times for my kids orchestra/choir/band shows but when PTX got on stage? Holy moly. Sound explosion. So so good. Avi’s dad was soooo proud of him (as he should be)

This video is sooo relatable. I used to sing a lot on stage.. until i realized i hated performing. And funny that you mentioned it being torture to watch your own performances... i just told my husband it could be used as a form of torture at Guantanamo bay! Worse than waterboarding.

You have to remember that the producers of the Sing Off pushed for both Mitch and Scott to be more "masc" which is the quote you keep hearing Mitch say. They basically threw them back in the closet for ratings!

He is very critical of himself. He is still plagued with self-doubt. He said once that he used to believe that once they achieved some success the self doubt would go away but it hasn't. It's like he doesn't know how good he is.
