Right now I use the Saucony Guide 15 for faster/shorter runs and the Mizuno Inspire for longer runs & marathons. I am tempted to try the Tempus for races & tempo/intervals run. But I am already impressed with the Guide 15; they are much lighter than the Guide 14 and the difference is noticeable.

For races for sure Tempus over Guide 15. Lighter and Quicker

@@RoadTrailRun I will have to try the Tempus. I also secretly wish we could have a lighter Mizuno Inspire. In 2015 my first runs were with the Mizuno Inspire 11 and they weighted 275 grams. Today we have the Inspire 19 weighting 303 grams (+28 grams) which is a 10% weight increase. This trend forced me to gradually switch to the Saucony Guide, which is close to what the old Mizuno Inspire used to be. Next shoes I wanna try are Saucony Tempus and Asics GT-2000.

I really like walking in the Endorphin Shift. I’m very curious about the Tempus.

Excellent review, I was looking for a more modern version Topo Ultrafly 3 (zip foam hard) and I think that the Tempes will be a good option. By the way, Is it really more stable than the pro3? I hear Pro3 is wider and more stable than the Speed 3..... 🤔 Saucony is nailing it this year.

Thanks! Great comparison. Another the new to compare Tempus to the PEBAX core Specter from Topo. Not sure on Endo Pro 3 stability. I don’t have them but others on team do

I appreciate the review... excellent job! I'm currently dealing with osteoarthritis as well as a meniscus torn in two places in my right knee. I'm looking for a walking (for the time being) shoe with plenty of cushioning to make the 5+ mile walks easier on my knee. I'm considering both of the shoes in the review as well as a couple pair of Brooks (Glycerin GTS and Launch GTS). In your opinion, which of the shoes will give me the most cushioning to help my knee? For reference, back when I ran half marathons (many moons ago), I wore the Mizuno Wave Inspire. Thank you for your help!
@RoadTrailRun

Both here could work. You might also consider Bondi 8. Wider platform. Hope your knee gets better and you can get back to running soon

Adam from NH, thanks..Just the comparison I was looking for, looks like your around the Hampton Beach area, was there a few days ago. Ordered the Tempus a few days ago and was hoping for much more support, as an excessive pronator, (with orthotics) will have to give the Guide15 another try on.

Great review thanks you. I've had the guide 15 for 2 months and need a marathon shoe so tempus is one or may go for the socouny Indorphine pro 2

Please can you do a review of NB 860v13 vs Glide 16 vs Gel Kayano 30? I'm looking for the best stability shoe as I'm an over pronator. I'm not too concerned about speed etc.. more of a durable, workhose show that supports my overpronation over 15-20km daily runs.

Could you recommend a shoe that has a good stability, but doesn't push into the arch like the Tempus? I have high arches, but I'm an overpronator. The Tempus feels very uncomfortable on the arch when i run more than 5 k with it. I got blisters on my left foot when i ran 30+ km with it.

Sounds like you may need a more neutral shoe or an inherent stability type shoe. If you like Saucony you might look at Guide 17. It has a broader platform and all one foam construction. You might also try changing the sockliner in your Tempus to a flatter one?

Saw the Speed 3 review. Regarding the fit between the Speed 3 and the Tempus.. (Tempus on sale in Europe for ₪133) is the Speed 3 more roomy than the Tempus in the mid foot and toe box?
@RoadTrailRun
@RoadTrailRun 2 года назад
Similar volumes but Speed 3 mesh is softer a bit thinner more open/less dense than Tempus leading to more room toe box and midfoot for me

Hey Sam. Wondering if you could help me a little bit. I’ve always been fine in neutral shoes but have been told it’s making my arch collapse slightly so a supportive shoe whilst I get stronger would be good. Do you think the guide would offer a lot more protection than the Tempus? I’ve picked up an injury in my hip and the physiotherapist says I need to build up my glutes as it’s causing me to collapse inwards. Any words appreciated.
@RoadTrailRun
@RoadTrailRun Год назад
Both are good options for support with the Guide more noticeably supportive while Tempus is more adaptive. As a neutral myself I guess I am not "activating" the guidance and stability of either as you might, especially the Tempus where for me and our other testers all neutrals we found no "bother" with it as we often do when testing stability. I would say that of our 30 plus contributors we have only one who needs a touch more stability and only one foot due to a surgery there. Tells you something if a population of 30 who get to test dozens of shoes per year steers clear of stability shoes most of the time and I find it hard to get volunteers for them although one does welcome them at times (Michael a 2:22 marathoner) as it is known many Nike elites do their easier runs in shoes such as the Structure and I too like some support for easier runs What neutrals have you been training in? The collapse might be in part due to shoe and its upper. Many neutral shoes have plenty of stability while others don't. Sam

@@RoadTrailRun hey Sam, thank you for taking the time with the reply, and I think that’s a great point about a lot of the Nike pros using stable shoes for some runs yet many of us don’t think to! To be honest, I think I could have a case for reviewing shoes with the amount I have, I’d say over the last six months my main shoes for daily miles have been the Ride 15, 1080, nimbus 24 and I seem to always go back to one of my three pairs of the original Nike infinity reacts as that more stable option. I seem to work well with some of the adizero shoes, the heel shape on the adios pro 2 and Boston 10 seemed to suit me and stopped me rolling inwards for faster work and races. I know ultimately this injury and a few others have come from S&C work as to not knowing where to start but hopefully I can sort that now. The other shoe I’ve really looked at is maybe the endorphin shift 3? I don’t have many low drop shoes but from a bit of research, I’ve seen a few articles about a lower drop taking a little bit of work away from the glute and hamstrings possibly

Do you know if the guide 15 has the same arch support of the tempus? I've tried the tempus on a short run and maybe I have slightly flat feet but I can feel the arch support push my feet too hard even when I'm not moving. Ty
@RoadTrailRun
@RoadTrailRun Год назад
Given the medial plastic piece in Guide I think you will feel more arch pressure than Tempus. Note we found Tempus needed some break in which softened arch. See written review here: www.roadtrailrun.com/2022/06/saucony-tempus-multi-tester-review.html

How would you compare to both the Adrenaline and the Arahi?
@samwinebaum
@samwinebaum 2 года назад
Hi Al, I actually have never run and Adrenaline but have Arahi. Arahi has a far more noticeable medial support and I find also an odd over firm wrap around of the support to the lateral side. It is a more responsive kind of ride but far less pleasant than Tempus which is lighter on the "support" feel. Depends of course on what you need but over firm support elements are not what I prefer.

Looking between these and the Guide 15, just starting of jogging I do have flat feet. Aiming for 20km a week over 3/4 days. Would you recommend these or the guide 15?

I tried the Tempus today. Rather disappointing. The upper is narrow but high.. Felt like a Hoka. Upper with plastic parts feeling cheap. The front rocker is missing and boy do you want it back like in the Speed.. Much less energy return then the Speed2 or Pro3.. Shoe feels like a very good daily trainer but no WOW factor like in the Speed 2 or 3 etc.. Did not buy them in the end. By the way they are already on sale for $130 \ €130.

They are more a daily trainer and we all found in full review need 20 or so miles to break in.

@@RoadTrailRun I agree. If I had one shoe it will be great option. Lock down was amazing. My problem was that I did a VO2 max run in the Speed 2 in the morning and then went to try them. I guess I was comparing apples to pears..

I (90kg, 1,85m beginner) wanted to try some saucony shoes so I had the tempus, speed 2 and the shift 3 at my house the other week. I only tried them indoors so not much proper running. The tempus was nice, but nothing to buy in addition to my zoomX invincible run and vomero 16. Also, comparing the Tempus with the shift 3 on the other foot, the difference was very little in terms of softness and give. After Watching all available videos I expected the shift 3 to be a brick and the Tempus a stable but bouncy marshmallow. I was really suprised that it did not feel like that at all. They both felt pretty good. And I liked the rocker part of the shift. The shift 3 also felt stable enough, nothing like the glideride 3 that collapses inwards like crazy with my weight. (Can also be seen in numerous test videos) The speed 2 was crazy light and bouncy. All of the shoes were a little too short so I had to send them all back. Did order the shift 3 a half size up and also the axon 2. Looking forward to it.

v Kayano 29?
@RoadTrailRun
@RoadTrailRun 2 года назад
Somewhat heavier and with a higher drop at 10mm. Foam is nice in K29 soft but at the same time supportive. More flexible type platform. Not as speedy stability as Tempus with Guide sitting in between. What are you liking now?
