Any thoughts with ASICS GT2000/12 vs Guide17 ? I use the GT2000 but find heel strike to far back makes pure gel redundant. Great on mid and fore foot. Switch into guide15 for more support when fatigued as it’s supportive and smooth.

Matt, would you consider this the natural successor to the stable neutral Endorphin Shift, or would you recommend another model for Shift runners now that it's being discontinued?

I’ve been using the Guide for several weeks now and do really love them. They do their job when it comes stability(really! ) and feel very light and extremely comfortable without sacrificing stability. Nice laces that are somewhat elastic and stretch lightly for a snug fit. I do recommend trying this shoe.

I finally had to tap out on this shoe. I've worn many Guide versions over the years but this one just isn't working. I'm blaming it for my post-tib flaring up again. As comfortable as it feels for long runs, the drop is too low for me and as a heel striker, the rocker just seems to make my foot work harder to move forward. I get that we're 'rolling' forward but when you start on your heel it feels like I have to run up and over the shoe on every step. I was in Hoka shoes for a couple of years but due to their lack of durability switched back to shoes that lasted longer (Saucony) and hadn't had an issue since. I get what they're saying with the stability engineering, but in reality it feels like it's a stability shoe for someone who really doesn't need stability.

Lower drop shoes always irritates my post tib. I’d love to try the Hoka arahi though, but… I’m sorry to see a lot of companies going lower drop and less stability. Had some luck with the kayano 30 but they’re a bit bulky. I’ll try the 31s.

Yes, please! I’ve been running in the Tempus for about 1.5 years. I really like it but looking for something with a little more support and thinking the Guide 17 could be a good choice.

This sounds perfect for my long, easy runs again. Love the Endorphin series but couldn't deal with the Shift and I do need guidance. I've been using the Tempus for longer races and long runs but I needed more of a plus, easy run shoe. I got the Asics Gel Kayano 30 for that purpose but I've never been in love with it. Looks like this is my answer.

this thing is same concept of control as Kayano, if you hate Kayano. you will hate this one.

One thing that drove me slightly mad in the last two Guide models had nothing to do with performance: The powerrun-PB removable insole squeaked with every single step. Does the 17 suffer from the same problem?

Same experience! Over time it also sounded like there was a suction cup on the bottom of my left one.

Stability is going in a new direction with a wider platform, more stack height. I haven't tried the Kayano 30 or Guide 17 yet but curious what they're about. I did see one review about the Kayano 30 , after 100 miles the heel started to wear because of the extra foam.

Guide 16 was way to firm to enjoy any runs longer than 8 miles for me. Sad to see they kept the same midsole. Not sure if a new sockliner is enough to change things enough to make this shoe more comfortable for longer runs?
@jakej722

My impression is the 17 feels more plush than the 16. The 16 also had some sort of PB-Sockliner.

I train exclusively in Guide 15s and Glycerin GTS. I'm currently training for my first marathon and wish I had shoes that were nearly as comfortable as the Glycerins, but over the same amount of mileage as the Guides, though without the intrusive shove away from medial (flat feet and pronate, but only mildly). I hear your suggestion of this new Guide 17 for long runs-- Would you consider it for an easy-pace marathon or would it become uncomfortable after 20 miles?

There’s no way this is still a stability model?! Right? Like is it in a max cushion category. To me it’s wild they made a true max cushion , rockered, stiff.. etc. seems to me like a bondi really

What's interesting is that the Guide 17 is noticeably a fairly flexible shoe for something labeled "stability". Comparable models from Asics, Hoka, etc are quite a bit stiffer in construction. You can see this for yourself with a *gentle* in hand bend-test and twist test. It seems that Saucony is approaching stability in their new way this time around, really prioritizing the wide platform to shape the running mechanics.
@kuriosites
@kuriosites 8 месяцев назад
So, Saucony will have the Guide, the Hurricane, and the Tempus.
@DoctorsofRunning

We’re not sure, but our understanding is that the Hurricane is not a stability shoe any more.

@grcigar9911

Moving the Guide away from traditional stability is asinine. It’s like Saucony discontinued the Guide and slapped the name on a new neutral rocker shoe with barely there foam sidewalls. Also, the rubber on the sole appears almost nonexistent which is also asinine. This shoe should have been a new model and is a slap in the face to loyal Guide customers. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

The new Omni 22 essentially role swaps with the Guide, so for the moment Guide fans will still have an option just with a new name.
