Had me tearing up when Devale shared the story about how he flipped his son’s aversion of the “gay couple next door” by humanizing them with ppl his son didn’t even know were gay, but already accepted and loved. That really showed Devale’s and his son’s depth of character. Mutual respect and understanding is so much more valuable than rejection bc everyone can walk away better ppl and having grown. Much respect to all the upstanding BM here! You were all amazing and inspiring!

Who ever put this cast together is wise, you might not like gay lifestyle but I am glad that brothers of all lifestyle can talk.. WE all black men and we are really all we got is each other. As long as boundaries can be respected and honor. we can sit, eat and discuss topics that concern black, black men and pop culture.

It doesn’t even matter someone’s thoughts on the ‘gay lifestyle’ because at the end of the day that’s just someone’s opinion/prejudice. Treating people with respect and acknowledging the humanity of others is the character trait of a solid ‘man’.

Deejay, i wholeheartedly agree because I'm 28, live in Atlanta and I'm a black gay man and when i had to get haircuts in the hood, i always dreaded it. Maybe things are improving as the world continues to grow, but barbershops, back in the 2000s, for a confused, timid little boy like myself, was scary.

I LOVE the inclusion of Santana in this discussion, as Black people we must constantly speak out about phobias and stigmas to ensure we’re not normalising them. The Protect Black Women segment was important but it’s also that we name names and speak to SPECIFIC situations.

I'm so glad that Devale shared that story. That's how bigotry and discrimination works, in all levels. it gets you to dehumanize a person, and not see them as a person...before you even get to know them. Once that is out of the equation it's almost impossible for bigotry and discrimination to happen, because if you see someone as a person first, you then have to judge them on their actions. Devale's removed that shroud for his son, his son then judged the man by his actions, as a person. In turn the man cried, because as Saucy says he probably has been through so many situations of being dehumanized and lost people he thought were friends and made to feel small.
@zenafaye7183
@zenafaye7183 5 месяцев назад
I taught my children the same way. We as a people should never be supporting the disrespect or dehumanization of anyone, given our history and what we still deal with and that's exactly why I teach my children the same thing. They are all very respectful of our great diversity!

I loved this show! For the first time in my life, I felt like I was watching a true brotherhood, where each one was listening to and respecting each other's story. This is what the enemy fears! They want us distrusting and fighting one another over the small things we may not have in common, over the greatest things that we do have in common! You have a new subbie here. I would love to see more brotherhood and sisterhood videos like this!

Loving this deep conversation between them especially with Santana. I'm a black gay man and I appreciate you guys for sharing this safe space with us. As black men within the LGBTQ+ scene, particularly feminine and flamboyant, we oftentimes don't feel safe around straight black men on being ourselves and express vulnerability. Sometimes whenever we are around a straight guy and the vibes he giving ain't friendly, we code-switch (a masculine facade or at least tone it down behavior) to make the individual feel safe instead of us. Over the years, I'm a bit open to expanding my friendships and rapports with straight guys but i still have to keep my guard up like most black men in general.

This was so refreshing to see. I wish there were more spaces like this in our communities, and I hope and pray that this catches on like wildfire. The older I get as a black gay man I feel like the further I get from my actual Black culture. I crave in need my Black masculine and Black feminine culture. I love my people, but sometimes I just don’t feel like they love me back. Love this ❤❤❤❤
