Chess never leads to gambling. And not every games was intended for gambling purpose except for the gambling cards. It's Human greed that causes it. Another reason Saudis ban chess is because they hate Iran. And Iran alongside India is one of the co founders of Modern chess , because both India and Iran evolved from Indo European family.

Islam forbids dice, because it is a game of chance due to some extent. So even monopoly is banned... Poor Muslims though, such great games of my childhood as monopoly...
