@@ToyTiger666 believe me having homeless citizens is just much meaner 😂. Homelessness rate in the gulf countries is close to 0%. You cant just decide which country needs to subjected to closer inspection and which countries have a pass free ticket. Every country has its own issues and as long as there are initiatives to improve those issues then the country is headed to the right way.

It is well-known that foreign workers are exploited in the Gulf States under the kafala system. For Saudi citizens, harsh prison sentences, like 20 years 4 a protest are also quite disproportionate. Many Saudis would also agree if open reporting and open criticism were allowed. In Western countries, homelessness is usually due to mental illness and drug addiction, not poverty. Authoritarian regimes have a hard time acknowledging such problems. Officially, homelessness in KSA is 0%. But unofficially, it exists, of course. Human rights activist Zac Alrayyis, e.g., writes on Quora: I'm quite shocked to see how many people here seem to think there's no homelessness in Saudi Arabia. The claim is boldly outlandish but does probably align with the state narrative. It's true that family structures and subsidized housing contribute a great deal to keeping it under control and the issue of homeless citizens specifically is not as pronounced as in most places, but just take a walk down a major street in any major Saudi city and you'll see beggars from all different backgrounds, increasingly Yemeni refugees, but Saudi citizens as well, and at night it's not hard to find people sleeping in a park or street. What they do with them depends on who they are. One could get referred to their family, be provided subsidized housing, detained, or deported in case of refugees.

There is no free speech in KSA. If you try to criticize the government for anything, they are quick to silence you. It is not beneath them to lock up and torture journalists. If you type, e.g. human rights violation in Saudi Arabia into a search engine, the Saudi government will censor the results. If you use a VPN to access blocked contents, that's illegal. Authoritarian regimes have a strong tendency to sweep all kinds of social problems and grievances under the rug. But it does not mean they don't exist.
