I first heard Truly, Madly, Deeply in 1998. 2024 and 66 years old and still listening. Darren is such a beautiful and loving soul. He is the real deal!
It's been 24 years since this song was released, and the lyrics "Now we don't live, we exist, we just run through our lives so alone" still always hit as hard as the first time I heard it.
Darren Hayes had such a painful life (domestic violence, abuse at school, divorce). He chose to not waste the time he has here or become bitter or a victim. He poured out the beauty from his (though many times shattered) heart through lyrics and his voice. Very much a beautiful soul under so much scar tissue
irisheyes317 sorry for bothering you but I need to ask you a question about Darren I’m a big fan. What happened to him when he was a child sexual abuse and he had family violence like being hit as a child? Please reply regards
Darren's voice is so sweet, and sensual at the same time; it makes my heart sing. He sings so effortlessly. I remember when I played SG's album all the time, feeling so inspired and in love.
Maria Panlilio You should get his solo albums, Secret Codes and Battleships. Has a lot of sounds that remind of the Savage Garden albums, but the lyrics and the music ...WOW. Go buy it, trust me on this one!
I liked Savage Garden when I was 11. I literally remember all the words still and I'm 29. Now that I look at Darren I can't believe how georgous this man really was. Glad he is happy now. He has had a rough life. He is beautiful inside and out.
Yes, Holly. Darren truly deserves all the best things that life has to offer. His ability to overcome all his obstacles has greatly inspired me to believe in myself and release my inner powers to become the best version that I can be. We can develop creative faith in ourselves (faith that is justified). Faith is like electricity. We cannot see it, but we can see the light.
One of the best bands ever! My brother used to play savage garden songs in our karaoke before during our teenage years. How I wish songs are still like this nowadays. Late 90's and early 2000's are the best days of my life.
@adrianaavila8853 Saw him in concert last year for the very first time after being a fan for 16 years. And let me tell you, it was a dream come true, it was beautiful, he was beautiful, his voice was beautiful. I cried I laughed. I wish I could tell little 7 year old me that we got to see him live and hear these songs live
Savage Garden's songs have a way of stirring inexplicable emotions. They are so relatable and make you feel that you are never alone, that someone out there is listening, ready to help.😊
Darren Hayes has the most beautiful voice. His voice, lyrics, singing and music take me way out of this world, somewhere beautiful, somewhere magical. Somewhere only Darren would know.
Savage Garden's songs touch so many people as they are written from the heart, from actual experiences of the band members. This song was about his marriage break up when his wife told him that she had to go, as he was hiding his sexuality. He loved her, but knew he had to go.
Actually, she told him to go and to be true to himself. In an interview, Darren said that if she hadn't had said/done that, he'd probably stay with her forever.
I was 8 or 9 years old when I first listened to their album Affirmation. This song is one of my favorite. Now I'm already 26 years old. Still love Darren's voice and the kind of songs that Savage Garden blessed us with.
Great voice. Darren is Amazing. A Black tulip on a million White tulips. No one else like him. I don't know why here in Italy he is not more famous and popular?!
Problem is the industry isn't set for songs like this to thrive anymore, the times of heartfelt pop are gone from mainstream. Hence why the record labels wont invest in an artist like this. Its sad.
that's why only listen to Kpop nowadays which is slightly more tolerable. western's pop has gone down the toilet. when crap like Katy Perry, Beyonce or Nicki Minaj's music are the most popular stuff, you just lose faith in humanity. Many people hated the BSB back in the day, but they're musical geniuses compared to One Direction
+vance astrovik I was and still a BSB fan lol , but yep with Hannah Montana rocking the charts what do you expect from this generation. Savage Garden is awesome, you shud try Ronan Keating he is still making music
I was living in and out of America for many years, and music wasn't the same in most countries... SO, I'm new to this group, this singer... BLOWN AWAY! Not just because Hayes is about as gorgeous as human being's come, with a great voice - but the words are SO 'right on' - every possible human emotion possible is expressed perfectly.
I remember back then in "08 took my baby mother out of my car and we laid on the hood of my car...and i signed "hold me" to her since she's deaf and i'm hard of hearing...but i've learned every song and lyrics known to man that pertains to savage garden.....gotta admit savage garden has played a huge part into my relationship....god bless you darren hayes...you are a wonderful and beautiful human being....stay strong and true you will go far...thanks again
Touches my soul every time. Every few years I'll listen to the whole truly madly deeply album. I'll never be able to put into words how this band made me feel
I Love this song so much and he's the best. I Like EVERY song that Darren (In Savage Garden and his Solo, his music is for me.) Thank you Darren for every single song that Savage Garden made and your Solo career. You are the BEST Pop Singer in the world ❤❤❤
*That's right* and he's an *Excellent* freak of nature talent with his lyric writing ability. I'd give *anything* to have him help write a song {or few} for whole day.
Hey Hey If we can't find a way out of these problems Then maybe we don't need this Standing face to face Enemies at war we build defenses And secret hiding places I might need you to hold me tonight I might need you to say it's alright I might need you to make the first stand Coz tonight I'm finding it hard to be your man Hey Hey More than angry words I hate this silence It's getting so loud Well I wanna scream But bitterness has silenced these emotions It's getting hard to breathe So tell me isn't happiness Worth more than a golden diamond ring? I'm willing to do anything To calm the storm in my heart I've never been the praying kind But lately I've been down upon my knees Not looking for a miracle Just a reason to believe I might need you to hold me tonight I might need you to say it's alright I might need you to make the first stand Because tonight I'm finding it hard to be your man Do you remember not long ago? When we used to live for the nighttime Cherish each moment Now we don't live we exist We just run through our lives So alone That's why you've got to hold me Hey Hey If we can't find a way out of these problems Then maybe we don't need this Standing face to face Enemies at war we build defenses And secret hiding places I might need you to hold me tonight I might need you to say it's alright I might need you to make the first stand Because tonight I'm finding it hard to be your man
you guys writing the words of each songs of savage garden. you are done really well. cause we are not all have the level of eng understanding each word of every song. so yea this is very helpfull. and make me enjoy it even more understanding exackly what the singer saying. thank you man.
it's so astonishing to realize how even Pop music back then had so much charme, elegance and effectivness in his melodies, nowadays it's so cold, fake, dehumanized, sounds like there's no hope anymore for the masses, people don't live intesively anymore, i remember how different the 90's were...
For those saying they used to love listening to Savage Garden, go get Darren Hayes solo albums. Especially Secret Codes and Battleships. Has a lot of sounds that remind of the Savage Garden albums, but the lyrics and the music ...WOW. Go buy it, trust me on this one!
Amanda Whittaker all 5 of his solo albums are amazing. Like poetry put to music and his voice is like honey being dripped into ur ears lol. There's some good songs on the album he did with we are smug too 😊
Amanda Whittaker Agree. All of his solo albums are superb. Don't really feel there has ever been anybody like him/Savage Garden . Certainly no copy cats because they wouldn't be able to pull it off. So underrated, but time will tell. Greetings from Australia
I love all of savage gardens songs. They're positive and entertaining and inspiring and meaningful. Savage garden will always be my favorite pop rock band of the 90's.
God, I love how this group expresses their music. The guitar is flawless & he injects so much emotion in every word he sings. Not just on this song, he sings all of them like that.
I think everything wonderful Singer Darren Hayes! Your artístic Work, your Voice, your way of being , Your vídeo, and your smale!♥♥♥♥❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Esto era música real señores y no mamadas de regueton. Música para tu corazón música romántica música con sentido de letra que te aporta. #ForeverSavageGarden
Oooooo....did you hear why they weren't? Essentially, and avoiding passing judgment on either side, a clash of realities & sensibilities. Honestly, no one needs that negativity in their life, so I'm glad they've parted ways. If you can't support each other, maybe you don't need this (their band) ...which is funny, because that message is right in the lyrics.
