I was at this event! I did the Spartan Super last weekend and it was also a great time. I do prefer the Savage Race though. The obstacles were more Ninja Warrior-esque, which was more enjoyable for me.
@Tactical Dachshund How did the savage race compare to the spartan super in difficulty? I did the super in Conyers GA and it was tough...especially if you did the full burpee penalties. Is there a penalty in Savage races if you fail an obstacle?
@@Strizzle81 From what I remember there weren't any sort of enforced penalties in the open heats, which is what I did. I think in the competitive waves you can retry an obstacle as many times as you like, but if you cannot complete one, you have to remove the chipped wristband basically meaning you didn't finish the race. You would still be able to run the rest of the race but your official time on the website would probably show something like DNF. As far as difficulty, both are pretty close. Spartan has obstacles that are based more on flat out strength such as the atlas carry and bucket carry while Savage has obstacles that require more agility and finesse like the Savage Rig and Twirly Bird. I will say that the Savage required a higher level of grip strength on most of its obstacles, but I do believe if you can complete a Spartan, you should have little to no issues with the Savage.
@@tacticaldachshund2734 Thanks...I did the competitve age group spartan super last wk and you got 1 chance at most obstacles and for about 10 of the harder obstacles, you had to do 30 proper burpees for each failed obstacle. If you failed other obstacles, they went easier and "only" made us run a penalty hill near the obstacle. The penalties made it much tougher IMHO. I would think the savage and tough mudder would be easier if there isn't a penalty for failing obstacles. I heard the Spartan open heats are easier bc you can try obstacles more than once and hardly anyone does the 30 burpee penalty. Thoughts?
@@Strizzle81 You are correct that the open heats are easier. Noone forces you to do the burpees but most folks don't cheat it. The only obstacle I couldn't do the first time on the Spartan was the Spear throw. It took me like 4 throws to actually make it. Spartan was loads of fun though.
Holy fuck I think I went deaf the first fucking second this video came on I’m going to try to listen to the rest of the video but I had advise changing that intro
