My first gun, Stevens 84C. An uncle gave to me on my B-day 1966. still have and cherish it. 24" bbl, adult .22. Very accurate. Interested in Warne rings. Has late model alum. Tip-off holding Weaver K2 scope. Doesn't look right but I Will NOT drill this receiver. Thanks for info
As a young kid, I have always remembered shooting my Grandpa's 22 bolt action rifle. He's long gone but an uncle now has it. This is the gun it is, but it is stamped as a Western Field, which was the brand name sold thru the old Montgomery Wards stores back in the day. It is still the most accurate 22 caliber rifle any of us has. Impressive.
Excellent restoration, that’s a 'work of art' & heirloom quality-undoubtedly. Thanks for sharing this video with us. I love rifles that are wood & steel, (or Aluminum!), & it’s a .22lr👍🏼👍🏼...what’s not to love about this rifle? It would be fun to put Peeps on, but maybe not with that front sight. It’s perfect-👌🏽-just like you’ve got it set. Awesome!
Got it. Thnx. So the 4C non deluxe doesn’t have the groves in the receiver. What would be the mounting process, without adding a pic rail first, ruining the natural look?
I was glad to find this review. A Savage 4C Deluxe was up for bids in an online police property auction and as I love restoring old 22's I was thinking about bidding. One of my concerns was finding reasonably priced mags (gun being sold had no mag, and a quick check of Numrich showed out of stock). After watching your video and seeing how nice yours came out, I went for it and ended up winning. Showing how to modify the Mark II mags, is extremely helpful. I think I'll do like you and just use TruOil for the refinish and let the natural beauty of that walnut stock show through. Thanks doing the video, perhaps I'll do one too to add to the number of videos out there on this fine rifle.
i am looking for the specs on a firing pin for this rifle . length overall , diameter for each part of pin and length of each segment of pin. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Good job on a sweet worthwhile rifle! The first twenty I got to shoot was a savage bolt action. Way too long ago, I couldn't tell you what model, it was my dad's but has disappeared along the way.
Still not sure as to how you mounted them, without drilling. How does the base of the rings connect with the round surface of the gun? Item number of the Warne rings would help.
