The photographer recognised them as his and proved that they were taken during the Obama (the deporter in chief) administration. It was Melania who asked Trump to do away with those cages. You could say that Trump's administration separated kids from their parents but he didn't put them in cages and he separated them for the same reason that Obama did. They had to confirm that they were actually the parents of those kids and not child sex or labour traffickers. We used to call them "slave traders" but, like all terms, we had to make them sound less offensive. Now Biden's telling them to check out the phone numbers written on the arms of the kids crossing the border. The border agents call them and then, after talking to those answering, the agents send the kids on to the addresses, that they're given, without any follow-up. As a woman there are many barriers that still need be broken down and as a black person there are even more. In the past many white people would make a big deal out of meeting a black person that spoke clearly and politely. It many cases that is still true for most young people no matter what race but that was when education wasn't as supportive for black people. Also are still judged more for their clothes or looks and it is talked about, but men are hardly talked about the suit they wore at an event or how he spoke unless it was blatantly disturbing. I believe his answer struck home with her and many others and will hopefully shift their typical quickness to judge someone being racist, phobic, sexist or any other discriminating manner.
