Hi there Sophie!! Thank you for this very informative video and showing the prices and sharing your experience! Since I live in Germany, I can’t try the bid system from Virgin Atlantic for flights to the US (booking their flights would make traveling a bit harder and longer) but it really intrigued me to look at other bid systems from other airlines☺️ when you did your trip in 2022, did you then have to pay for the extra cases on you flight home? Or was Virgin fine with it since it was included in your flight out to Orlando? Lots of love!💓💓

Yes! It is so great that multiple airlines offer this now! It is such a great way to get an upgrade but for a much more reasonable price! I did have to pay for the case on the way home. When I checked in online I could add it and pay for it then which was handy. With the bid system you only get charged a few days ahead of your journey if you win. So with the return flight they would also let you know a few days before you came home if you had won, so because I didn't I didn't have any charges which is great! It's so nice to know they only charge once you are confirmed to have won!

I’ve got an Atlantic flight coming up in economy currently. $945 is the minimum bid so considerably higher than your video, perhaps they’ve up amounts. Or if I bid for economy (70 dollar minimum) and get it, would that potential bring the upper class big price down from $945? Nice video 👏

Hi! In this video I had a premium economy seat and the bid price was to upgrade to upper class. To go from economy to upper class would cost more. However in 2022 when I did this the bid was just over £500 to go from economy to upper class (one way). I think the prices do fluctuate depending on the cost of the original flight. I think you can bid for multiple different seat types (so you can bid for both premium economy and upper class) but you would only win one, so if you did win the bid for premium you couldn't then bid again on upper class from that. Another option is to check if there are any upgrades available when you check in. This is a risk as they may not have any but it is often the cheapest way to get an upgrade as it is last minute!
