Reviewers never mention how tow packages affect ride quality. Getting something called Max Tow Package is going to include MUCH stiffer springs and kill your daily ride quality. My F-150 has a measly 7k tow rating, tows the 4k lb camper with ease, and rides great when unloaded
If a C or K1500 were available but with a 5.3 and maybe a modern 8 or 10 speed trans it would be at the top of my shortlist for trucks. You still see 30 year old Chevys on the road today with 300,000 miles plus...
@@TheDesertFish sounds like you need a Suburban with a 3.0l diesel to me. I can't see how a pickup truck would ever have third row seating and still have room for a bed.
I think the RAM is now the least competitive of the big 3 half ton trucks. F150 should appeal to people that want to do “truck things,” and this Chevy does “truck things” better than the RAM, yet is almost as comfortable as the RAM.
In my opinion, I don’t think the previous gen interior was bad. It just wasn’t a big enough improvement over the previous gen. It was more of a lateral move instead of vertical move on Chevys part. I have a 2018 Silverado and I thought about upgrading it to a 2021 but I didn’t think the interior was nice enough to warrant the upgrade. In fact, there are a few things in my 2018 I like over the 2021. Not that I think it’s bad I just didn’t feel like it was any better in a noticeable way. If I bought the 2019 initially, I would’ve been just fine with the interior.
depending on the road and conditions, this isnt impossible even in the TB trim. Ive seen 31 (truck calculated) mpgs for some trips if Im driving for economy. Diesel powered economy is very situational.
These 3.0 diesels are still having a lot of issues. RU-vid is littered with people who have had their trucks in for repairs multiple times within just a few months of ownership. I love the idea of this engine's performance and efficiency, but I do not have the patients to deal with a bunch reliability problems. I need my vehicle to just work and that's why I wouldn't buy one of these.
I hope your comment is seen by many. So many people gush over this engine, but I've seen countless complaints on it AND whats worst is that the trucks are in the shops for weeks and months at a time because of no availability of parts to fix it. This engine is only 3 years old GM is already replacing it? That should tell you something right there...
Interesting. I've seen almost zero videos complaining about this engine (maybe a couple and that's it). The 6.2 v8 on the other hand, there's a new video talking about how unreliable it is on an almost daily basis. Granted I don't watch every single video about this engine so I don't know.
@@79champions Then you haven't looked for them. I've done exhaustive research on this powertrain because I was planning to purchasing one, but not anymore. It's not just the engine, but GM's poor reliability, in general. Frankly, I'm not a fan of any of the full size trucks at the moment because they all have some kind of issue(s). The only full size truck I'd buy right now is the Nissan Titan, but it's a gas hog, so it's out of the question for me. I'm actually looking at the Nissan Frontier now, which isn't a pinnacle of capability, but it'll be adequate for my needs. At least it's affordable, reliable and gets decent fuel economy.
I wanted the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 (refreshed) and ordered one (Denali) with the Duramax .. I requested the Max Trailering package as well .. dealer never told me you can't get that with the Denali .. I discovered the screw up just before the truck arrived at the dealership. I walked from the deal. As much as I want the GMC, I'm going order a Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country with the Duramax with Max Trailering ... I'll learn to love the front-end.
First if all, you are among the elite in your field. I got rid of my 2021 3L baby D. It was plagued with problems. In 2022 it spent 19 weeks in the garage on and off for different things. I should emphasize that 19 weeks on and off was before August. It was remarkably fuel efficient but always broken. At the peak of the fuel gauging here in Ottawa Canada the price of diesel was the equivalent to over $9/gallon. Even now in some stations diesel is up to 60 cents/litre more than regular. I’m now in a 2022 refreshed Trail Boss with the 5.3. Oh also you really praised the exhaust brake. It was barely noticeable on mine compared to it big brother 6.6 Cheers
6:10 already missing the trim piece over the B pillar trim bolt...yep, it's a Chevy. This truck is perfect for a guy with a wife he calls "bae", had a 2.65 GPA in high school, has a Mountain Dew bottle full of Skoal juice and went to tech school for welding but ended up working for a paving company swinging a shovel :)
I'm sick of this ridiculous overly aggressive styling on these huge vehicles. People who drive these are always riding my tail too close and intimidating. Pisses me off. Obviously the manufacturer is appealing to this. Leading to road rage incidents in many cases I'm sure.
@Mowcowbell The only reason diesel (which takes much less effort and cost to refine) is still much higher than gas is because TPTB want it that way to cause the "great reset".
Dear followers!! Don't let the beautiful pictures confuse you . Anyone who buys a new car from GENERAL Motors the chance you threw your money into the trash is very large. In this company there is no customer service, the company's management does not care at all, if you have a problem or a malfunction, you can only pray to God there is a chance that the help will come faster. GM is a very dangerous company, be careful and keep your money safe.!!!👎👎👎👎👎😬👎😬👎👎Share so more people don't get screwed.GM is a big bluff
I don't understand how this is your favorite powertrain in the 1/2 ton segment. With those economy ratings and the high cost of diesel you're much better off with an F150 powerboost. Then you have the 7.2kw generator on board as well as better interior (subjective I know). And aren't paying $6/gal for diesel, on top of adding DEF and 13qt oil changes.
I appreciate the combined leg room info on your video but you got the tundra at the top and that’s incorrect. The 22 tundra only has 82.2 inches of combined leg room. That 22 Silverado crew cab has a combined leg room 87.9 inches.
Why most of 2022 Chevrolets have gray interior colors? Why all of Chevrolet seats and the interior colors are gray? Explain that to me. Thanks. Dr. Luis Amador
You are definitely in the minority lol. I actually think it's a smart move from GM to keep the old interior around on the lower trims. Not everyone wants the latest gizmos and it keeps the entry level trucks cheaper.
I wasn't interested in the 3.0 diesel so I bought the 6.2 instead but i am interested in a 2.8l powered truck. I'll consider the 2.8 but not the 3.0. I do mostly highway miles and light loads with no trailer. 2.8 still has what 370 lb ft of torque. Plenty.
@@tjt6288able i was only able to get the 6.2 since the 5.3 i wanted more was not available and I was getting a good truck for a good deal and I didn't want to waste it by waiting then having to pay over msrp when I didn't with mine.
I think it's more to do with tailpipe emissions than growing gas engine performance. If diesels were as clean as gassers, no doubt we'd still see a ton of them around.
@@philipjohnson882 I stand corrected. Seems like I needed to brush up on newer GDI and diesel mills. Sounds like lots of the aspects diesels do have an advantage (other than maybe certain particulates) but you’re right there might be something more to it like politics or optics etc.
I kinda like the outgoing looks myself, but only on certain trims. The High Country HD at night with those split LED signatures looks menacing on the road.
Honestly the Sierra 1500 3.0L diesel is the one to get for way better comfort. Such shame RAM never optioned the Cummins 4.0L engine to have the perfect twins within the same lineup. That cover in the center console was an AC plug? I'm lucky that I live where diesel is cheaper than petrol, makes me wonder why is it so expensive in the US.
Well, we all know GM is the usually the last to adapt to change. There's little market for light duty diesel pickups... all of the emissions headache and overpriced fuel for none of the actual power.
Since it basically has android auto built in how does the truck get its internet connection? Can it come from your phone or do you have to pay for it though GM?
Pretty sure you gotta pay for it. I think you get some time free with the purchase, then after that have to pay for the cellular connection the truck is built with for those features to keep working.
I can't stand the location of the shark fin antenna above the driver and the asymmetrical look it creates. From what I read GM is too cheap to install the proper assembly tools at factory for them to be able to do this. It makes you wonder what else they are cutting corners on and this probably explains their reliability problems.
2021 Silverado and GMC 2021 not good A lot of issues will start problems with belts than transmission issues Already with all those problems on my New 2021 1500 Chevrolet Good luck
Long crank no Start issue was solved a year ago with a firmware update. If your talking about the oil pump belt not one of those have failed. And the transmission has been more reliable than fords.
the sierra got worse looking in the refresh while the chevy got better. the 2019-2021 looks the sierra was a clear winner. Now I'd take either one and not think about it, which means the the sierra's price premium is now a deterrent in all but the top trims
A small favor to ask: If you’re reviewing any cars with the new Android Automotive system that has Google assistant, please try to find a way to avoid saying “hey Google”. Any of us who have Google devices will end up having them try and respond to what you’re saying. I had to mute the video because my home devices started going crazy.
You lost me with saying the 3.0 EcoDissel was meant for Cadillac. That motor was developed from an Italian company and originally made it for the Ram 1500 and WK2 Grand Cherokee, eventually adding it to the Wrangler.
Nope, it was originally designed by VM Motori for Cadillac. VM Motori was 50% owned by GM from 2007 to 2011 when Fiat acquired their share, the bulk of the engine designed for the euro market CTS became the 3.0L EcoDiesel. The engine design had been “sitting on the shelf” when FCA was created by the merger and it was decided it was a good fit for FCA’s North American products. There has been a great deal written on the topic. www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2013/07/how-the-ram-1500s-diesel-almost-wound-up-in-the-cadillac-cts.html
