The creation of 40 low paying jobs where the profits will go abroad is a distraction against the damage that will be caused to the community. We do not need another supermarket. This building is unique and irreplaceable. No community will ever be fostered in a supermarket. We need to preserve our history and invest in our local community.

There Is a similar building to The Towers in Collier Row, Romford. It is a Tesco supermarket which has had an extra internal floor fitted and used as storage space above the shop floor. So a conversion could be quite possible for The Towers and no need for demolishment. It does seem so senseless to loose such an impressive building to a glorified prefabricated greenhouse.

And while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I think the Towers is a much nicer building than the Tesco one. Lidl restored the building they took over in Kentish Town, so they have done it before.

I hope Lidl see this and to keep the facade and build the new diesign behind the front of the building a least because there anit much history left in Hornchurch so PLLEEASE Lidl just keep the main entrance that's all we ask we will be grate full for that. =) =(
