I picked up a 1973 Briggs and Stratton powered leaf blower last year that was going to the scrap metal yard. It has not been started in many years, and the engine appears to be seized. Lets see what we can do to save this cool machine.

Man Alex great job getting that beast running!!! They sure don't make equipment like they use. That fossil started on the first pull. The crap they make now will absolutely never last that long

Great save. I find it to be very rewarding just from the point of view of accomplishment to bring back to life something that has been idle for so long. I'm glad the motor was basically ok --- rings ok, no seized piston, good spark etc. You get extra points for adapting the new tank and its assorted hardware to the engine. Wish I had that kind of mechanical skill. Have fun doing the restoration.

Great job, Alex! I was impressed with your ability to figure out linkage conversion and get it pretty much right on the money. I have Engine RPM app on my phone, which works using sound to determine RPM. You were running at 2533 at the end, so yes, you could definitely increase engine speed. I’m curious why you would want to repower - I’d want to keep that engine since it seems OK.

I’m 76 years old and almost seized. The only thing that’ll work for me is to just keep all the parts moving. 😉🔧👍

I had a old mechanic helping everyone in shop, he would spray his hands and arms with liquid wrench every morning, for real He was 94 when he just had a headache and passed

Hey I like your videos! That was awsome I found a flat head briggs and stratton classic out of a truck bed. It's missing a few parts has hole in the sump and needs new parts. But your video today was insane. Thank you for making this great content.

Great job Alex! It was definitely a crusty start lol! Those dang mud dobbers are almost as much of a pain as mice. O ly real upside to them is that they don’t chew on wires 😂

Very nice old project Alex. I always like to see something saved and made useful again. To many things end up scrapped for no reason, especially push mowers. That engine sounds good and not smoking. ✌🎥🇺🇸

I've seen a little wonder Walk behind blower that had the engine run with out oil The shop put a.t.f in the engine and let it soak for a few days it was running when I Saw it as you said you might have to repower it I've got to replace the p.t.o on my craftsman gt tractor sounds like the blower fan is the culprit of the sound
