Saving kids at Bondi can be one of the most frightening things for lifeguards and parents. And sadly, there's been no shortage of heart-stopping moments with kids at Bondi and we've got the moments to prove it - ru-vid.com/group/PL0Xa58krD0jXO3ZLDxIMkZgAHjnP9aJxi

When a foreigner is saying, "Yeah, yeah, yeah," when it isn't an appropriate response, it is because they don't understand your language. I truly hope the message was somehow conveyed to the mom.

@Ass_of_Amalek

well, in most places the lifeguards' job is easier. at bondi there are big waves ans currents and surfers, the crowd sizes are extreme, and they get a lot of tourists particularly from asia who have no business swimming in the ocean, but are so bad at swimming and ignorant about swimming that they don't even know that they can't swim for shit. they just see a crowd of people in the warer and think "if they can do it, I can do it", and then they wade into a rip because the waves are smaller there so they figure it's easier to swim in.

Currently living in Korea, and have visited west coast, east coast, and south coast beaches (not Jeju island yet sadly). The waves they have here are SO tame! Its no wonder so many Koreans seem to have trouble on the Aussie beaches. They expect it to be just like it is here when its a whole other league over there.

I know, it is interesting how dangerous the ocean migth be acording to where you are, in my country we have two oceans (pacífico y atlántico) and one of them can be really dangerous while the other tends to have small and weak waves.
@inay2862
@inay2862 2 года назад
@@geral096 I'm in Indonesia, and yeh the location of the beach also have something to do with how big of the waves are. I went to somewhere called Pari island, it's somewhere up north from Jakarta which is the north part of the Java island, the waves are nearly to none at all, then I explored beaches around Malang which is the south part of the Java island, the waves and rips killed people here, and sadly we don't really have the education about it, almost no life guards on these beaches, only locals who know how to swim.
@pepziifroztgamer6102
@pepziifroztgamer6102 13 дней назад
Yeah I'm in sweden and our beaches are extremely tame and almost has 0 waves, its impossible to drown because of the waves so many don't even think about it when going to australia, but I will say that since its essentially illegal to not teach ur kid how to swim if they are 12 or older. up to 12 I believe its okay for school to teach your kids, but when they are 12 they need to be able to swim to be able to even continue going to school or they will have to go back a grade, unless they have health issues or dissabilities ofc then extra classes can be taught how to float if u cant swim etc. But 99% of parents take their 2-3 year olds to swimming lessons so its one of the rarest deaths here. Its a very tight culture of keeping eyes on peoples children, u always keep track even if the parents are watching their kids, u make sure they are strong swimmers and if they aren't you will stick around and make sure the kid has an arm to lean on if they need it. Typical ettiquette here

I don't think the Korean mother of the 3 girls who almost drowned understood a single thing that lifeguard was telling her. Either that or she's a total psychopath who doesn't give a crap about those girls.

She probably didn't understand. It'd be like me going to Korea, getting in a dangerous position unknowingly, needing to be rescued, and then told on if an unknown language. I mean tea I'd try and learn the language before my trip, but that doesn't mean I'd have a full grasp on the language before getting there. That's why it's so dangerous when taking kids to a beach. My Grandparents were always really close to my sister and myself anytime we were near any type of water. My sister and I later both grew up to be lifeguards! I had to do cpr on a baby at one point, that broke me, I was scared every time a kid got in the water after that. It definitely makes you hyper vigilant, especially when you know the danger that kids face when in water unsupervised!!

That's awesome! I once almost drowned because I didn't have any more energy to swim to shore and there were NO waves... sea was super flat but the current was strong and every centimeter I advanced I was pulled back in an instant... 10 minutes I spent swimming as hard as I could to be in the exact same place... I was lucky I thought of swimming to the side instead of against the current in hopes to find my way out of it and was able to find an area without the current and get to shore but damn I was so close to not being able to move... Troy johnson I guess that kind of makes sense of what the clip shows. as far as I can tell, the oldest sister is the one most trying to treat it as a joke, and making fun of the middle sister who is taking it the moat seriously for screaming (which was probably vitally important in preventing a much worse outcome). common sense dictates that (beside the mother), the oldest sister should be the most embarrassed because she should have looked out for the younger two. I do think though that beyond any cultural nervous laughter, there is some plain bad big sistering going on at least in how she's making fun of the other one for screaming. just like there was some bad parenting from the mother in leaving her kids unattended, swimming in an unsafe area.

Lifesavers are the backbone of surf rescue in Australia and New Zealand. For over 100 years, (and long before the use of professional lifeguards), these volunteers have risked their lives to save others-- and have uncomplainingly given up their days off to do so, with limited equipment, and without being paid a single cent for their efforts. You can find them selling raffle tickets to buy new equipment! and on top of that, they provide a training programme for kids who want to be the next generation of surf rescuers, which starts at kindergarten age and produces teen graduates renowned for their toughness and skills. I honour all professions who put their lives on the line to help others -- but the Volunteer SurfLifesavers are totally next level. They make me proud to be an Australian.

I work as a lifeguard and the amount of parents that just ignore their kids is astounding to me. I understand that it’s not a big pool and all, but come on, we have other kids to deal with and the deep end is always a nightmare with kids jumping off the boards and risking landing on other people. I sat a kid out for jumping in while we were on our ten minute break, and the mom argued that he didn’t know he couldn’t get in (even though I explicitly said so, and it’s on a VERY large sign at the entrance) and she said that the rule wasn’t stated anywhere. (Again, that massive sign) and it’s just like…Please watch your kids, and they need to understand that it’s not ok to be left alone in bodies of water, and you as a parent need to understand that while yes, I was watching and I was there, that’s not always the case. Thank god for these guys at Bondi, y’all are amazing and I can’t even compare myself to y’all.

As a child that was rescued 30 years ago in biscarrosse Spain from a rip current, I have now grown up but i can't thank you enough for your work having been in the same situation. Things can end so differently. I was swimming between flags but was pulled across into danger by a very strong rip current and soon shifting sands along with the strong rip kept pulling us out. I now never underestimate the sea and keep my own children well within paddling depths. The dangers you can not see, be safe people.

These lifeguards are like the superheroes of the beach-keeping a close eye on everyone and risking their own lives to save complete strangers. When those girls screamed for help, they were so fast to act, that just warms my heart!! I 100% respect these lifeguards of Bondi Rescue (and all lifeguards in general) for being selfless and helping others!

I LOVE seeing the confident lifeguards running out and paddling like crazy. I saw one for myself once when some girl was out far and looking like she was going nowhere. He just sprung into action it was marvelous.

It amazes me how many parents are so aloof when it comes to their kids swimming/playing at the beach!! It is THEIR JOB to look out for their kids & knowing where they are at all times... these lifeguards are incredible at what they do...if it weren't for them, these parents would be heading to the morgue instead of home! WELL DONE & MUCH RESPECT TO ALL THE LIFEGUARDS OUT THERE - WE APPRECIATE ALL THAT YOU DO! Love BondI bEACH, a beautiful piece of Heaven!

I have four kids, I have never lost one, had a broken bone, or stitches ever needed thank God. Some of my family, especially my dad always picked on me for being overprotective. I allow my kids to experience as much as they can, I just always kept a very close eye. My kids are 23, 21, 15, and 14. So far so good..

There have been people too heavy to get on the board before espeshally with smaller lifeguards. They once had to get a guy to hold on to the edge of 2 boards and be dragged in

That family at the end made me cry. After seeing all those parents not watching their kids... and here we have a mom just trying to have fun with her kid and niece and they get into trouble too, so happy she was there to keep the kids calm and that the volunteers and the lifeguards made it to them

Got a learn how to swim parallel to the beach when you’re in a riptide so much stuff you need to know when you’re out there swimming in the ocean. Thank you so much for these lifeguards who risk their lives every day. Just like the military we appreciate you and all your time and energy taken care of the civilians

40+ years later, thank you to the random man who saved me from drowning when i was 4. my parents had left me alone (?!?!) & i tried to walk through what looked like a creek connecting to the ocean somewhere in northern NSW. i suddenly sunk into a deep pit, & either Play School or Sesame Street must've taught me to hold my hand up & that kicked in, and just as i thought i was about to die, a stranger ran over & dove in to save me. bless you, whoever you are, i'll never forget you 💖 and never leave your children unattended please 😥
