Murrie works on fixing the water problems at the house so it won't flood anymore. The boys work on another four wheeler while dad is gone. Ben runs out of gas while trying to get home from work and Murrie has to go save him.

Great work on the new drainage pipe. I know you guys are still finishing up the house. But a gutter with the drainage pipe should help big time on the amount of water in that area. Love the videos!
@gregb76
@gregb76 11 месяцев назад
Murrie you need to put gutters on the back and put the ends of the gutters in your pipe. You can also do a French drain and that will help before you get the gutters up.

To the boys, your fuel shutoff can be on reserve forever and will not affect the way it runs. The problem is the reserve side is blocked with foreign material. Take it off, clean it and you will be good to go.

Hopefully, you have resolved your drainage issue. But if it doesn't; back east, we would remove the dirt from against the house al the way down to the footers, clean the dirt off the block, seal the block with foundation sealant, and put a waterproof membrane over the foundation sealant. Then we put the corrugated pipe at the footers with extensions around the side of the house to drain the water away. Then we would cover the drain pipe with a couple of feet of gravel and backfill with dirt.

@@Bobwa2008 after watching the whole episode I think a roof not having gutters is a major contributing factor as well.
@neilfromclearwaterfl81

I believe they already lined the foundation with membrane on blue sealer and went back afterwards extending the membrane on blue sealer all the way up to the base board for the siding. I do agree though that the trench and perforated pipe should be closer to the level of the footing. Weed block is a little more open than septic paper but should suffice however typically it should go over a few inches of crushed stone covering the perforated/slotted pipe to keep the clay in the soil from getting in-between the rock causing plasticity. High levels of clay causes plasticity which makes it so the ground does not perk as it needs to causing runoff to follow down along the foundation to the footings and up under the slab. The house is built into the side of a hill so with the high clay content in the soil it is going to be prone to this just from the natural swale of the land. Sometimes a dry pond dug lower than the slab to collect the runoff from the perforated pipe and driveway might be required to divert the runoff into until it can perk into the soil. If Ben and Marie were closer I swing by and lend a hand. I will work for food though some have said they think it might be cheaper to clothe me. Best!

Maybe that will change in the future but from what I've seen so far B&Ms Garage will be successful on there on efforts. Definitely a more varied content and all of us can relate to working in the primitive conditions an DIY projects. Fan support and sponsers will certainly come soon. Good luck Ben and Marie.

My place would flood in heavy rains. I assumed the gutter was working. Not. Putting a new gutter with downspouts has kept the back of the house from flooding. An immense amount of water comes off the roof & by having the new gutter, water is not dumping immediately behind the house. I recommend a gutter. Enjoy watching you all!

You should have drilled holes in that pipe instead of just cutting it with the Sawzall which left blade width slits. I dont think the water will be able to get into the pipe fast enough to keep from entering your home. It would also be a good idea to put a gutter on that side of your house. I would bet that's a lot of the problem. Good luck!

Are you calling him Ogre, or Oaker?, I worked with a guy once who's CB-handle was Ogre, and he looked like an Ogre too, lol, ya maybe should've drilled holes through the pipe from end-to-end, and put it deep enough so you could cover the gravel with dirt, bringing it level with the rest of the ground, also, on camera it don't look-like it has enough of an angle/slope for shedding water, the gravel would keep the dirt out of the pipe, I did that exact job for a buddy about 20 years ago, and he's had no trouble with water next to his house since, I'm not really critiquing your work, just trying to be helpful, and I'm sorry for the long-winded comment, awesome video guys, thanks for sharing.

That is a waste of time and energy. The basement should have a perimeter drain, and enough drain rock to take surface and gutter water. The perforations won't grab water. For the price of pipe, should have bought perforated.. and better than that black stuff, use the PVC perforated pipe.
