Hi everyone for you guys who wants to know the Rust converter I used on George is called Fuze I brought it a while ago to do parts of the Bus as it was a bit rusty. It's furprime rust converter it available on ebay. Ferprime Rust Converter 500ml Ferprime Rust Converter is the new name for Ferprime Black Ferprime Rust Converter : Is a reactive water based low VOC resin primer for Iron and Steel. Converting existing rust into an inert corrosion resistant Black coating. Formulated with cutting edge corrosion inhibition technologies to prevent any further corrosion below the primer layer. FerPrime can be applied to a wide range of surfaces and will provide a solid rust preventing primer to non rusted iron surfaces. As a Primer FerPrime can be easily over-painted with a wide range of paint types applied via brush, roller or spray. Benefits of Ferprime Rust Converter Treats rust and Primes surface for repainting Environmentally friendly solution. Low VOC, pH neutral and non corrosive Easy to use simply brush on and allow to dry Stops rust fast on Iron and Steel surfaces Black Iron and Steel Primer NOTE - This product will only turn completely black if rust/ iron is present. With insufficient iron it converts to a purple/black colour Usage Instructions: Remove loose rust and corrosion by brushing with a wire brush Apply Ferprime with a paintbrush. 1 Litre should cover approximately 8 metres squared depending upon the surface being treated Allow to air dry - this normally takes 10 to 30 minutes depending upon ambient conditions. If coating twice ensure the first coat is fully dried before the second application Depending upon the temperature allow up to 48hrs or longer to dry completely, we advise keeping the treated parts in temperatures of >15°C. Please Note: To avoid product drying out please ensure that you replace the lid after use. Hope this helps someone 🤓👍

I'm with you on taking advice, i do listen to people but at the end of the day, we do what we feel is right depending on £,mood and experience... Now you are going to have more poke with the bigger engine 🤗 I found stuff called bonda primer in Halfords and it is good to use on your engine bay etc as it's like the old red lead we used to be able to get, you have to do all you can to keep the tin worms away 😟👍🇮🇪

I'm thinking hammerite paint should be good and I probably have some in shed 👍. Looking forward to fitting the replacement engine. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 🤓👍

Might be a good idea to paint rust treatment on before hammerite as it will be rusting away happily under the hammerite.

Watch out using engine degreaser if your drive is tarmac as it could soften the surface as might brake cleaner. With the brake pipe if you’ve got any Waxoil use that on the pipe if it’s not corroded but maybe the most important thing is to secure it to stop vibration as it will fracture

George’s original engine has a 948 back plate and clutch. The back plate on a 1098 is a thick cast item I’d say 10m thick. You are correct in the fact you have a 1098 gearbox there. The release bearing other then the chips out isn’t that bad. There isn’t that much more material on a new one then the one you have. It looks like it was seizing on the arm and needed lubricating as should be nice and free. A 1098 will be straightforward fit, one thing I’d say is if the engine mounting are not shot totally then re use. The modern ones are rock hard and cause vibrations.

Hi👏thanks for the comment I will have a look at then mounts. The replacement engine has a new clutch and might have a new release fork. I appreciate your information. Thanks for watching 🤓👍

The carbon bearing should be fixed in the release arm and it needs no lubricant at all. It should not spin in the release arm. The damage has probably been done by having the 948 engine with thin backplate mated to the rib case gearbox. The 1098 has a much thicker backplate. I believe there are three different release forks and important to have the right one. I would have thought it would be near nigh impossible with the current arrangement and that has probably caused the problem of the loose carbon bearing. All academic now as you will have the correct 1098 engine to mate to your gearbox. Hopefully the 'new' gearbox should have the correct release arm so you can fit that one to your box if you are going to keep it. Check the bronze bearing on the release arm and pivot bolt for wear. They are cheap to buy and easy to fit, the bronze bearing is a force fit in the arm and can be fitted using a vice. They are both available from esm morris.

Sorry I thought you said the carbon was spinning in the bearing housing but it looks like it's still fixed in this video. You might find the bearing wasn't aligned very well due to the mismatch of 948 engine to rib gearbox. Like you, I'm no expert, just trying to help. Good luck with it all.

@@DC-dp3hk thanks for you input yes I have read that people put spaces if fitting 948cc to that box. I think also that's why it's warn down and damaged I'm hoping that the replacement will all be good to go. 🤓👍

That radiator overflow pipe isn't a great design. I pushed a little bit of rubber pipe onto the end of mine to direct any overflow water straight onto the road instead of the metal cross member.

I just dropped on to your u tube morris engine removal I have to take my Cadillac 1975 8.2 litre engine out it needs to refreshed and rebuilt so anything like this fascinates me . Maybe I should start a Chanel and share my attempts . I have a two post ramp here so it’s not too bad for me except I don’t get much help .
