Keep a 2x6 bout 4 ft long with ya. Stand it up under the strap near the stuck truck so when you pull it lifts the tires up. I use this trick ll the time down here in the sandy creeks of NW Florida. Sometimes you can run the strap under and to the opposing end of the truck and get a similar effect.

A swift yank would have been more useful I imagine.

You need a stretch strap. Basically, someone gets stuck, you hook the strap up to their vehicle and then you take off and haul ass, using momentum and the strap to pull the vehicle out. I go wheelin' in my 2wd dodge with buddies and none of us every stay stuck.

I owned many wheelers...and the number one thing that is a must have is a good highlift jack...I don't care if your high centered...buried in mud...stuck in a ditch...stuck in the snow...stuck in a creek...always have a hi lift jack...Jack that sucker up as far as it will go..and drive off of it..I've never been stuck in a jeep..because they all had hi lifts..sad part is that rear bumper looks like it's made for a hi lift...those corners are where you stick it...they sell the kits for them to hang on the spare tire for cheap too

good job fellas. im 40 and this reminds me of two pickles i got myself into. 88 chevy 3/4 ton. had it a week and got it stuck in a lake feet from shore. took 2 days and a huge wrecker. water is a mofo to get stuck in. it washes out under the tires. second was getting stuck in a swamp wheeling trail hung up on some stumps. 3 trucks hooked together all buried. it took a decommissioned military full time 4wheel double axle. fun times. you can never have to big of a strap. the chevy had the right idea. give some huge slack and hammer down. with the right strap it would have shot that jeep out like a Budweiser crap in the morning. good video

This guy has been immortalized on Google Earth Street View! If you look on Google Earth and find the Aldrich Street bridge over the Cattaraugus Creek just N-W of the center of Gowanda, then switch to street view and look to the left, you can see two deep ruts in the mud. Immortalized I say!

Why they trying to pull him out with a bald tire RWD lightweight truck? That thing is tiny, has bald tires, and has an open diff. It's basically a one wheel drive as you can see one wheel isn't spinning half the time.

This is a example of what not to do to recover a vehicle. that strap was way to short and you never pull out a vehicle with a cum-along. I've pulled out tons of stuck Tru ks and jeeps in worse places and deeper than that. that should've taken almost no time at all

you got the jeep stuck my dad was in a 1966 jeep cj5 and when he finaly got stuck he was in doors deep mud and he had no traction control and a open diff and the thing is stock with a tiny 4 cylinder!

Oh my what were you guys thinking? Learn from someone with experience how to properly use off rd equipment. Get the proper recovery equipment if your going off riding. High life jack - shovel- 2 straps in case one is to short - something to put under your tires such as 4 - 4 foot long 2 by 12's after you jack it up with your hi lift Jack - winches are ok if you know how to use properly. A winch that will slide into a 2 inch receiver - both front and rear because normally you get stuck going forwards and need to be pulled out from behind. I am 71 years old lived in Alaska my whole life I own a off rd recovery business I have seen it all. I have seen people lose an arm - hit in their head from broken hitch balls hitting them. I have a X army Duce with all locking diffs- 54" super singles- 20,000lb winches front & rear and still get stuck at times. I live 17 miles from closest rd so off roading to get to rd. Hopefully you will learn and not get hurt doing so. Please be carefull Thank U

My dad blew his jeep's engine when water got into the pistons when he drove through a puddle.

He needs to invest in a good recovery strap, you can get a good one for around $50
