I went to the Stan Reynolds site to buy a couple of 1951 Kaisers that were going to be destroyed if they didn't find a home. I got lucky and heard about these cars just in time; many others had already been cubed. In part 2 of this video I take a walk past the stacks of the less fortunate ones...

thanks for that run through. I'm so glad you said collection, I hope people realize how much time, effort, money, resources and foresight some of our elders had in accumulating those pieces. some see junk,I see a piece of history. thanks for appreciating and sharing this with us. let me guess, tract houses or another box store in the name of "progress " in its place and more planned obsolescence devices made from those decades of collecting. oh well, I'll burn one in memory of this.thanks again

All i know is if I bought that pieceof land I would definitely expect the cars with it haha, you shouldve bought a plane. Oh well maybe at least you can get 1 or 2 running kaisers out of the 3 you have now.

The problem is, the younger generation generally isn't interested in stuff like this. They tend increasingly not to own cars, or if they aspire to one, it's electric. They have all drunk the climate change Kool aid.

Just out of curiousity how much do the yards get for this old Detroit iron for scrap metal? If I had space and didn't have persnikity nieghbors I would love to save a few. Good job, your doing it right. I get a smile on each old beauty you rescue.
@coldwarmotors
@coldwarmotors 9 лет назад
+teknonut1946 It varies... scrap prices are all over the place depending on demand from (mostly) China. anywhere from $100 to $400 per car, I guess...

I love that You are saving history. These car's are an art form that is mostly poopooed by the art world. They are wrong. 👍👍

You're 10 years younger than me. In that extra 10 years you'll save so many cars. Keep it up. I still have fond memories of the '49 Mercury our family had as a daily up until the late '70s.

Fantastic yard! Thanks for doing that deed for the Kaisers!!

Dude it sucks to see some of these good cars go, some of them don't even look like they need to be destroyed, some of these they should be fixing up or even restoring them depending on their rarity. There could be at least some people who would want to buy an old car they want or that they're looking for.

They had actually lowered the prices to scrap value just to find buyers. There were about 450 cars in that field and about 300 of them did sell.

I paid scrap value for them. The owners of the yard were just trying to find them homes so they wouldn't have to crush them. Thanks for watching! Definitely more to come with these Kaisers..,.

I asked about an F-86 Sabre they had there, but it was spoken for! That sure would have looked awesome in my front yard. Yes, I will definitely be able to put together a running Kaiser now. Thanks for watching!

Thanks, and yes, that is exactly the plan. The one I got last year is pretty solid but has broken glass and the engine is stuck. These two have good glass and complete engines. I'm hoping to put the solid one together and drive it with the original paint untouched. Maybe next summer? Cheers!

The sad cold hard truth of the matter is that you watch all these videos showing acres of vintage tin, and you know the ultimate fate they will suffer. Hopefully, the video record will survive.

Criminal to crush those cars. Their money, but damn. They are worth more than the crusher, if somebody would take the effort to market them.

It's a sin. Alberta. Blessed with the perfect conditions for preservation of old cars. Very arid. Thousands upon thousands are preserved. Blessed with all the oil under them to keep them running forever. Only a few escape the crusher. The day is coming they will no longer exist. A finite resource. Oh, cars will still be left out do the cycle. Held on to for some reason, only to be kept long enough to lose any real value so they will only be worth crushing as the market for 4 door Tempo's and Oldsmobile Alero's 30-40 years from now will be small. You need to start a non profit and build a museum and get some of that oil royalty money, last I checked, $2.93/barrel, likely only breaking even on what the government spends to support the oil industry, tp preserve what's left and keep it out of the crusher's.

I like Kaiser - Frazer cars ! Unfortunately, I am in Europe - these cars look very easy to repair, how much would a Kaiser in that condition be worth ? I would like one...how is spares availability ?
@coldwarmotors
@coldwarmotors Год назад
Hi Michael! These Kaisers are worth very little in rough condition. I bought all 3 of the ones in this video to use for parts for my 1949 Frazer. Driveline parts are fairly easy to get; trim is used-only, but they are not too rare. Cheers!
@MichailKnoller
@MichailKnoller Год назад
@@coldwarmotors Thank you very much ! Considering the car I am doing at the moment, these 3 just look like brand - new cars; certainly no donor - cars. As long as brake components, engine - parts etc. are available, there would be no problem to take one as an - almost - daily driver; my 1953 Borgward wants to be on the road as well...where is the best place to find one ? Trim, chrome, rust = minor problem...
