With Storm Babet about to hit Dunbar, Barry takes the difficult decision to pull all his creels out of the sea and back to the safety of the harbour. He has nine trips to make, in pretty choppy conditions, but less than two days to complete the task before the storm is due to arrive. Will he make it?

Wishing you all the best, we have had the storm Ciaron go through with gusts of 97kts (111.6mph) plus two confirmed tornadoes (Jersey), devastation is an understatement. Fishermen family have not been able to get their strings in as the swell is still huge and unsafe, also another amber storm this weekend, they are well aware that some of the strings have moved and will have bundled up and may be needed to be crept to re find them. My son has the same hull as yours, Cygnus 21 (lot older build) with a MD2040. this has now been laid up for the time being as it is no longer cost effective to fish and he has had to find other employment so another full cat A is no longer fishing. Please stay safe, glad to see that you have managed to retrieve most of your gear before the next storm. Hopefully you will be out again soonest.

Oh no, Denis. I'm so sorry to hear of this devastation. I do hope the men can get out soon to get their gear sorted out. Our guys have been stuck in for 3 weeks since Babet. And I hope tomorrow will be the 1st real day they can go out to straighten out their gear.🤞🙏😁👌 Sometimes, that's the safest thing to do with your sons wee boat, especially when we are going to bit hit hard with this winter weather. I know that doesn't pay the bills, but safety must always come 1st. Wait until you see our decision in next week's vlog.😲🙈😔😁👌 Stay safe, bud. All the very best.😊

Hi Rob Thank you so much for your kind comment. The idea is never to get into the water.🥶🥶🥶😂😂😂😂 But in all seriously, there is an engine emergency stop button exactly at the place where I would only go over the side. If I swim to the port side of the boat, there are emergency ladders built into the railings with detaching ropes that trail in the water so once you pull them, the ladder comes right down in the water, and I can climb aboard. I have a spare set of dry clothes in the locker, too, just in case.😁👌 All the best.😊

Nobody ever said fishing for a living was easy. This video certainly illustrates that. Your posts since before the storm hit certainly reinforce the importance of preparation. Still more work but you have to protect your investment in the boat and gear. I was just wondering, did the old harbour ever have flood gates? The geography and geology certainly would make it feasable. Although a big investment by the community to put them in. Cheers Baz! Love to Lyndsey on her Birthday! Cheers! Rick & Lori

What size fleets do you run Barry

Hi Craig. Just 12 in a fleet bud. She can take more, a lot more, but with this MCA crowd, always lurking around a corner. And obviously, safety on your own stability. 12 seems to be about the right number for me, of course. 😁👌 I hope that helps. All the best.😊

Well noticed, bud. Don't worry, a few of the " parents" got told! As I'm not short on my words when it comes to danger and idiots.😂😂😂 However, our wee pow wow on the pier about a velvet crab that I must have missed in the creel went down a storm, as their were a lot of the your kids very interested. 😁👌 Teach em young!😁👌 All the best, buddy.😉👍
