Nice boots....its funny that i still think of 'private ryan' as a modern film....indeed i remember going to watch it as if it was last week....but it s 26 years ago!.......the same time in years going backwards would be 1972.....so its probably becoming xn old film now😊😊😊
Fun fact, Speilberg actually contracted Red Wing Shoe company, to make the boots for the movie. Red Wing was the only domestic manufacturer left that still had the lasts, used to make the originals. They also still use the same equipment to stitch the shoes together, that was used to make the originals. The model from Red Wing from WWII was called the U.S. Army 1103. There were a few shoe manufacturers back then that made them, since there was literally millions of soldiers that needed a pair during WWII, but Red Wing was the first one to get the contract from the government. The originals did have a raised diamond tread pattern on the outsole, but do to the lack of outsole pattern molds at the time Red Wing couldn’t do it without further delaying production for the movie, because their sole molds department was gonna have to create new molds from scratch, which was gonna take months to complete. So Spielberg opted to simply the shoe for the movie, and just have a smooth leather outsole with a rubber heel cap.
