Saw : The Final Chapter (2010) Ending 

Dr. Gordon, the only apprentice who was an actual good apprentice who followed orders and truly believed in what John did and learned his lesson from his test.

"Oh Hey, it's my foot"

The way Dr. Gordon said game over was poetic. His line delivery was just as haunting as John Kramer said in Saw I

This ending makes me feel sad a little bit. Not for Hoffman, but for Adam, Zepp, and Xavier. They have been in the bathroom dead for 3 years (from the film's standpoint), and no one has ever found them. But revisiting the Saw Bathroom is always a joy.

"I don't think so". Total badass line.

The fact that Hoffman was gonna instantly cut his foot off with the saw says a lot. .

“Starts in a bathroom, ends in a bathroom”

So many years later and the fact that this movie ends with a callback to the end of the first Saw still sends chills down my spine. I may not be a big gore guy, but these movies tell such a good story.

When most people think of 'Saw' they think of the goofy, gory traps but I think of the clever and unique storytelling, full of surprises, twists and cross-references the whole way through.

Man Zepp, Adam and Xavier are just rotting away....at least they have a new member of their bathroom club......lol

Fun Fact: The official commentary for "Saw: The Final Chapter" says that the 2 Pig-masked guys assisting Doctor Gordon in subduing Hoffman are Ryan and Brad; The two guys who survived the opening trap.

“Don’t worry I’ll bring someone back, I promise” Dr Gordon really did keep his promise to Adam even though sadly it wasn’t in the way most of us thought.

Dr. Gordan was truly the one to take John's place, out of all the apprentices he was tested once and already had disciples helping him.

3:06 This shows that John had contingencies for everything so he could pull strings even from Beyond the Grave. He had Dr. Gordon there to punish Hoffman if he ever took things too far. John obviously did not want someone who made traps that were much crueler and who took sadistic pleasure and enjoyment in the suffering of the test subjects. Also John made it very clear to Hoffman when he first met him that blatantly executing someone in one of the traps for Revenge is a huge Taboo in his philosophy.

I am proud to say i was one of the fans who theorized Gordon was still alive and was helping John, felt so good to be right, it came full circle, it started with Gordon trapped in the bathroom and ended with him trapping someone in the same bathroom, its poetic.

Dr.Gordon had the Best Game Over, getting revenge for someone who is dead by killing the enemy

I love the opposing dynamics in this scene, Hoffman is screaming and yelling and is livid beyond belief after he immediately goes to use the saw to cut off his leg only for that option to be taken away from him while he's chained to the same pipe Adam was chained to in the first movie, meanwhile Doctor Gordon is literally the last one standing in this scene and is completely calm about the entire situation to the point that his only words are "I don't think so" (confirming that he's making this final trap for Hoffman unbeatable) and "Game Over" (The words only jigsaw's apprentices ever say and the words which John said to Adam in the first movie before leaving him in there), also it's even more fitting how Gordon is the calm and collective one since in the first movie John Kramer also only said two lines to Adam before closing the door, these words being "The key to that chain...is in the bathtub" (confirming that the trap was meant to be beatable even though little did he know at the time, it wasn't) and "Game Over"...and now Hoffman's the one screaming and freaking out like Adam initially did in the first movie before being left to rot except this time the trap is intentionally unbeatable for him. Do we need further elaboration on why Gordon became like this? Yes, but I just think this scene is amazing in what it shows and I would've loved to see Gordon appear in Jigsaw or even get mentioned that he's still around...maybe in the next movie that can happen.

Saw's storyline is severely convoluted, yet it manages to gain crystal clear continuity, remembering characters from previous films (Gordon, Hoffman, and some other trap victims). Overall, the storyline of the series is masterfully written.

The real question is, does Gordon regret leaving Adam?

Jigsaw: Wait until Jill dies, then act imminently on my behalf Gordon: How about I act before Jill dies? Jigsaw: NO!

Adam Stanheight was a good man. He didn't deserve to die. He's human, just like us.

Notice how Jigsaw refers to him as an 'asset'. Despite how much Dr Gordon had helped him, he was never apprentice-material for Jigsaw. I think he just wanted to go back to a relatively normal life with his family, and Jigsaw respected that. This also meant Jigsaw had a Plan B in case any of his apprentices crossed the line after his death.

Jigsaw: Game over, Saw 1. Amanda: Game over, Saw 2. Hoffman: Game over, Saw 4. Jill: Game over, Saw 6. Gordon: Game over, Saw 7. Logan: I speak to the dead, Saw 8.

Hoffman: Ha! I've survived the SAW franchise! Dr. Gordon: *I don't think so* Hoffman: You can't do this to me! I've survived 4 SAW movies in a row! It does explain how he can pull off all these medical miracles, I loved this ending so much. Definitely the best movie ending, honestly I love how all the saw movies have a ending that always makes your jaw drop

Hoffman never really played fair. So Gordon wasn't going to play fair towards him. Hoffman brought it on himself.

I love how that iconic music spikes as Gordon, of all characters after a seven movie journey, tosses the saw. It began with that same saw and now it all ends with the same exit. What a perfect full circle. Masterful storytelling. Bravo.

Man got this series on blu ray last saturday and what a great series loved it from 1 to 7. Can't believe Dr. Gordon made the end cut.

I like how Hoffman was ready to straight away saw off his foot. Such a big contrast to the first movie where doing that was a last resort

I love how this ties back to the first film in many ways, particularly the fact that Gordon was framed for the Jigsaw murders in the first one, only to become the next Jigsaw in what was supposed to be the final film. Simply brilliant!

Would've been a nice touch if they took a shot of Gordon looking at Adam's corpse and saying "I'm sorry Adam..."

Kinda funny how Hoffman framed Gordon with the pen light, but Gordon sent Hoffman the "I Know Who You Are" message, and ultimately killed him.

Lawrence being alive still was one of the biggest plot twists I've seen from this franchise, and the way he ended the movie by making sure Hoffman died slowly made me root for him as a villain

Easily my favorite ending. It seriously ties all the movies together and Hoffman gets to die a slow slow death for not following the rules of the game.

This is quite literally the closest thing the Saw series ever came to the conventional "Bad guy dies and 'hero' saves the day" ending.

Hoffman created traps for his victims where most of them were never actually winnable for personal reasons, Kramer ends up getting revenge for Jill by having Gordon kill Hoffman in an unwinnable trap. A fitting death for someone who tarnished the values and ideals of the Jigsaw Killer, in my opinion.

Honestly looking back on these movies, as crazy and convoluted the story became, this was a nice way to end the original series. Jigsaws “mission” was to teach people lessons, and test their will to live and pay a price for their survival. Hoffman and Amanda both failed him as they became selfish and just started murdering people and putting them in un-winnable traps. So to have Dr. Gordon, the 2nd survivor to actually follow in Jigsaws path was perfect imo. I always wanted to know what happened to him, and sure always assumed he was a secret accomplice the whole time. But to see it in theaters for the first time was so awesome. Seeing him be behind all of the surgical aspects of the traps and choosing Lynn. I just wish they didn’t have him appear as much as he did in Saw 3D. Would’ve made it more of a surprise.

Seeing the whole story come to a close like this was badass and epic to see in theaters. I recently sat my friend down and rewatched the whole series with them. They hadn't seen the movies before, but they fell in love with the series, and watching them watch this ending was hilarious and amazing at the same time.

Shows that Hoffman didnt truly knew John enough, if he was Smart enough he shouldve known that John had alot of backup plans and killing Jill was the worst thing he couldve done. He failed his test when he decided to give up on the Jigsaw role

In the original script to this ending, Gordon was originally supposed to play along as a apprentice with him originally being extremely angry over Adam’s death promising to help him and the trauma brought to his family over jigsaw having zep nearly kill them, he was going to recruit the entire survivors group including Eric Matthews son be a group of their own jigsaw cult to watch Hoffman be locked away in the bathroom forever.

That bathroom is pretty much Jigsaw's dumpster

Dr Gordon was the ORIGINAL survivor of John's game. The only one willing to follow the rules and the only one willing to do the right thing. Murder might still be wrong but you can't help but be satisfied with that final 'Game over'. Brilliant line👏bravo. Bravo.

This was easily the best part of the whole movie. What an epic way to end Hoffman.

The things I've learned from SAW: His definition of passing his tests is very arbitrary. The actress who played Amanda was very attractive. He has a cult, somehow. And never piss off an engineer.

For everyone out there wondering who the other 2 pig maskers are, while not 100% proven, it's Brad and Ryan from the public execution/toxic love triangle trap from the beginning of the film. This is evident from the directors commentary stating that they are the masked men assisting Dr. Gordon, since only those who assist Jigsaw were once a victim of him.

Due to Hoffman’s reaction to seeing Gordon, I’m gonna assume he didn’t know he was alive or at least part of jigsaw’s team?

I can’t believe even this has been 11 years. The gap between this and the original SAW wasn’t even that long and at the time felt so much longer

Dr. Gordon is so badass in this. He lets hoffman do all the work by killing off the entire police station and leaving nobody on his tail. That was pretty smart and slick of him by using hoffman like that before capturing and trapping him in the end.

I still wonder how they could have connected all the movies together. The first one alone was brilliant but how could they have known that it will come together so many movies after the first one? Really brilliant.

Hoffman IMO had the strongest will to live out of all the characters, so I still find it ironic that he was left for dead.

Imagine if Adam, Zepp, and Xavier’s ghosts haunted the bathroom and were present during all of this Adam’s ghost: “Oh my god! Lawrence? You’re alive? And working for this Jigsaw fuck?” Zepp’s Ghost: “Dr. Gordon! You son of a bitch! I died in here because of you!” Xavier’s ghost: “Who the fuck are you two?”

You know, I felt like I didn’t care about Bobby’s storyline and the characters he was involved with during this movie. The introductory trap where the two friends kill the scandalous woman was great, but THIS ending is my favorite in the entire Saw franchise. I love this twist with Dr. Gordon being gracious for John Kramer’s work, and it took seven movies to come full circle. “I don’t think so…” as he looks at his decaying foot. That was such a sweet way to wrap up the story!

I just notice that all of johns Kramer’s followers all wear the same jacket even Hoffman and and dr Gordon

When you finish the last chapter of a book, and there’s a 2 chapter epilogue...

In my opinion, this movie is really underrated. I can understand the people that complain about the 3D effects and the pink blood, but analyzing it as a movie, it was really good. The first 30 minutes were really different from everything we saw in the other movies, but in some moment, it becomes a really good movie from Saw franchise. This ending was amazing and really made sense. I liked to see that Gordon was the only one in the survivors that really got John’s idea. For me, this is a really good movie, even better than Saw 2. It obviously has no chances against Saw, Saw 3 and Saw 6, but it’s better than 2, 4 and 5. This is a really satisfying movie to conclude this franchise

Out of all the endings in the series, this is by far the most satisfying

This has to be one of the best twists in modern cinema. I was stunned when I first watched. Plus i love the look Lawrence gives at his decayed foot. Truly masterful.

It's crazy to me that some people still cling onto the idea that Hoffman is alive. Sure, he'll probably appear in Saw X as a flashback (his voice is in the trailer after all), but there's literally no way whatsoever he is getting out of that bathroom UNLESS someone comes to open the door and even then, they have to free him first. Who is possibly going to do that? He is 100% dead. To be honest, after everything he's done, he deserves to die. Having him return would really cheapen this ending. I know he's a beloved villain and everything, but still.

Fact: the two who were with Gordon in the parking lot were the two guys from the public display buzzsaw trap, names being Brad and Ryan. This was revealed on the dvd commentary. Also, it was revealed in the movie Jigsaw that the police ended up finding the bathroom trap, and that means that Mark Hoffman could still be alive, depending on when the police found it.

I always wondered who's paying that electric bill to keep the lights going in an abandoned underground bathroom.

I love this twist and to see Dr Gordon return and that he truly believed in John’s work and learned his lesson from his test. The Saw franchise came full circle it ended where it started. The best horror franchise.

What really hammered home how Hoffman snapped was how he instinctively reached for the hacksaw to cut his leg off

Truly the worst way to die, starving to death in a dark room with no way out.

Hoffman was the best antagonist of the Saw franchise I think most of us can agree on that. He was analytical and calculated and I think proved he had what it took to survive. His only miscalculation was believing he was the last one standing of John's accomplices. Truly terrific ending where the franchise began.

"Game Over." this sent me chills down my spine. not only is it a reference to the first movie in the franchise, but in my opinion the SINGULAR BEST catchphrase that Jigsaw has other than "I Want to play a game.".
