Great video Mark Eddie and Mark. It was really awesome to see the short cherry logs dawn into beautiful woodworking lumber! Thank you for adding the edging episode at the end! You really got some outstanding project lumber from those logs. It is amazing how effective that log sealer product really is. It totally prevented end checking and staining and kept the lumber looking nice and fresh. Wonderful sawing video!
I love our cherry cabinets. They've aged beautifully over 17 years. Hope to see something just as pretty from your boards, Mark. Thanks, guys. Keep up the great work.
My bedroom suite is made out of Cherry Wood and it still looks great after 40+ years of service !! Keep up this GREAT channel, guys !! There's something quite relaxing watching y'all saw those logs !!
Some of these hardwoods like the cherry you might be able to get more value from the cutoffs by selling it as smoker chunks rather than firewood in smaller bags.
I really enjoy watching you men sawing wood and enjoying your work. It is very entertaining and bring back memories of going to the sawmill to buy lumber and slabs for firewood. Thank you
Quite interesting video presentation, thank you Mark. Very interesting video end watching you trimming the cherry down into lumber. Very interesting being able to see the entire operation. Wishing you, Eddie and ZZ Mark and your families another blessed week filled with peace, good weather, gentle rain and restful evenings. Peace brother
I worked right behind an edger, and if ever the the edgerman was out for any reason I would get to step up and run the edger. For this reason I really love watching an edger work. Thanks for the great video Mark, and hello to Eddie and ZZ Mark
Great song! Also, it's nice to see the good and the bad logs. It reminds me of shucking Indian corn, which we sell a lot of in the fall. You never know if you've got a treasure or a dud until you open it up.
I do too, lightweight and strong, it is easy to finish and in my mind only requires a good varnish or polyurethane without a stain. The natural color of Cherry cannot be improved on. I made a telescope, the hexagonal tube of which is made of cherry. I just used exterior grade polyurethane and the wood after many years still looks good as new.
Hello From Fort Myers FL..Hurricane Central for IAN. Watching these video helps to improve my mood. Beautiful job guys. Lots of people around here could use lots of your lumbar... Carry on guys!
I've cut a little bit of cherry on my homemade bandsaw mill and it looked really good. I wish I had been set up better so I could have made some things out of it after it was all done. Enjoyed the video as always
Just a coincidence but over on Lumber Capital Log Yard today the video was all about banana logs and how to cut them. Another great video. You seem to be getting better all he time. Thank you for your time.👍
Wood worker love people that saw short logs usually a little cheaper and can sell more with more profits saving the consumer money its a win win for everyone some day I hope to have my own mill and will cut short logs slabs for firewood
I am finally On the road to recovery....Won't be long and I can get back to driving a school bus full of kids...Fantastic camera angles....ZZ...Eddie...Mark...The music is great...Nyquist Sr.
That second log, I would have cut it 4"-5" thick, and made bowl blanks out of it, for woodturning. From what I could see of it, it looked like it had some fantastic grain patterns. We don't always want FAS boards; quite often the more figured boards sell for much more here in UK. I run a small bandmill and most of my work is producing timber for craft use, and the more figured or gnarly grain, the better!
As Always, Thank You Mark, Eddie, and ZZ! ZZ Chop, that is! LOL PS I am far less concerned about ZZ's Beard getting him sucked into something now that he has banded it up!
You mentioned steam powered mills there is an old one not far from me where my grandfather worked when I was a kid i wish someone would restore it. Its been sitting for years
You may not have thought much of that second log, Mark, but I think the first log was worth the investment by itself. All in all, a great stack of lumber. It's good to see ZZ as a regular, too. Bill
Awesome as usual! I'm curious, with you guys having electricity brought into the mill, will you ever look at replacing the bus motor with an electric motor?
I just subscribed to your channel and I love it!!! your work set up is amazing and I would feel right at home there. This video is the first time I seen your rip saw in use. I think it would be cool to get some more angles on it for the people that haven't seen it in use be for. Thank you for all your videos Buss Men :)
I guess I'm different because I would have taken every board you cut off of that second log. I look at wood more in an artistic way and see beauty that ends up in a lot of burn piles. Enjoyed the video.
Its called dimensioning returns. Why mess with one board thats trash handling ten times verses cutting a board that has a higher fundamental value? They cut wood, not turn them into artistic creations then market them to bougie home owners. They cut thousands of board feet in couple hours.
Any chance of an overhead shot of the edger in action? Trying to get a better mental picture of the board as you juggle the settings and the final product coming out the end. And, is Eddie stickering and stacking as you edge? Do that later? How thick will the edger cut?
Do you guys have a planer mill? I'm sure you have a planer mill. My grand daddy ran the planer mills in the sawmills he worked in MS and TX. I'd like to see those last boards run through the planer mill and get those saw circles smoothed. I can't make it any planer than that😁
now im gonna have to cut a couple cherry trees will give me a repieve from the hemlock ive ben sawing and will add to what my wife has stikkered in the greenhouse she loves cherry so i saw her some when i come to it nice lookin pile you guys have there
