Per your comment on the edger with the main saw, I am assuming that you do not have another edger or cut off saw down the line beyond the off bearers... Enjoy all of your videos very much. Used to hang around the Odon Sawmill when I was a kid -- that would have been 60 years ago. My what automatic changes vs. manual labor I can see for basically the same end results.
Of the hardwood species that u cut which one give u the best $ return ? Also what are the most common lumber grades associated to this specie? I am slowly learning the milling aspects of hardwood logs after 30 years of softwood lumber production.
I've been around sawmills pertneer all my life. I believe this is the first time seeing an edger saw at the headsaw. Pretty cool though, saves time on the other end of the line
Great video 👍 I especially enjoyed the in-cab section of video so I could get a glimpse of your thoughts and decision making process for what to cut next. Does your log turner go one direction or both? I've only seen it go one direction.
I was sure that it did, it seemed weird to me that it wouldn't and there must be a good reason you only turn it one direction. Thank you for the reply and explanation and taking time to answer a question or two 👍 Love the videos. Keep sawing and be safe .
Does anyone know if red oak prices are still low? I have 130 standing trees, just wondering what they are worth to me...24-30 inches at breast height..
@Helmsburgsawmill I seen that glimmer of hope in last weeks HMR. If it got any lower you'd be giving it away. Hopefully a little bit of a boost during spring time ordering will help.
