I am impressed with your log turning implements , your setup is perfect . I was the sawyer of the Chip-N-Saw Mark-4 sawmill for 7 years , usually cutting more than 125 thousand ( my record was 189 thousand board of lumber per 10 hour shift . I have noticed that you might have cut a 1X4 from 4 sides of your logs . That could increase net gain by 10% . My percentage of recovery was 85% of the logs brought into our yard and the owner of the sawmill told me that his family of 3 generations had never been to recover more than50% from the cords of lumber that had been brought into their yards . He ordered me to NOT change my method , no matter which one of his supervisors told me to do ; he instructed me to tell them “NO “ you need to tell them to check with him before you change your ways .

I like the new edger. It doesn't lead you to run your hand on top of the board as it feeds into the machine. It scared me when I saw you doing that on the old edger. Safety first.

You are getting more and more relaxing to view. I watch you guys and listen to THE Eddie. He needs to publish a calendar for his words of wisdom. Just out of curiosity, how much do you charge for your pallets of cut offs? It is not cheap where I live but when I am lucky, I am constantly listening for chain saws and rush over to where the cutting is done and scrounge the Eucalyptus (mostly) and the tree people are usually happy to give me what I can take so they don't have to pay to get rid of it. Hello from London! I came across your channel by chance less than a week ago and have unashamedly binged pretty much all your videos. In themselves they are fascinating and a quick learning curve as to cutting timber. It's not just that though, it's the thorough decency of you both (and your friends) that shines through. One question from one who knows almost nothing of what you do, once you have got four straight sides, why not just cut through creating equal-sized planks past the center pith to the other side rather than turning it around so much?
I think…. He keeps turning to get the best possible look of the boards. He has not taught how to be a lumber aficionado yet. The log was going to become cut/split for firewood.

@@richparks1966 , @markgalicic - I'm not in on the original premise but the right to delete is there. I once made a historical comment on a YT video discussing the future of the SS United States. It got deleted. Probably because I mentioned a certain aircraft company's successful passenger jet that made ocean liners obsolete. Perhaps it appeared I was promoting that company without compensating YT. Kind of a stretch, but it got deleted.
