Sawmilling Workshop Wooden Frame Wall Material - Band Sawmill Build #26

Milling 50x100 mm lumber for the steel workshop partition walls and ceilings to make a smaller part of the 400 square meter old barn warm so I can heat it. It's a must during the winter. Right now I'm milling old dead spruce and have a couple of them lined up for felling in the woods, too, but when that's not enough I'll have to get some green wood. The mill works good. The alloy wheels need to be balanced in a tire shop. Even though they're straight and don't wobble they start to vibrate at higher speeds. So something is out of balance. I hope you enjoy the milling. I know I do. There's just something about that blade going through the wood like a hot knife through butter. I can look at this continuously for a long period of time, over and over.

Blows my mind. 129,000 people just looking at wood getting cut up. Works for me! I think it has to do with our desire for order and control. You are so methodical in your videos. Step by step. This is so important in a chaotic world. Just think, you are giving meaning and structure to so many people all over the world. Thank you so much!

Now when the wheels are balanced I can go full throttle and with a fresh blade it rips through the wood in no time. Also the sprocket on the new wheel is a bit smaller which upped the revs and thus the blade speed by a quarter. So all good!

These rims are really straight, no throw in'em whatsoever. Just the mass is uneven, thus the need for balancing.

I noticed you roll the logs away from the stationary guide posts so the sawdust debris dose not make for uneven cuts. A good level clean saw bed is always a plus. I don't remember if you have the motor and drive belts covered so they stay out of the rain and sun, but if they are they will last longer maybe. Good luck, I hope you can close in the shop while it is still kinda warm outside yet. Are you going to build a Rocket type heater for the shop?

I'm using a belt on the mill that originates back to the times when my grandfather still drove his USSR T-100 tracked dozer. It must have been at least a couple of decades ago and this belt is still kicking. Eventually the mill be under the roof without direct sunlight so I will not bother with a belt cover. :D I'm just that lazy. I'm gonna go with a Bullerjan type of wood stove and add the sawdust stove in the mix there to utilize the sawdust coming from the sawmill.

@DonnDIY
@DonnDIY 5 лет назад
There's pretty much no difference in performance - just the blade is more stable in the unsupported area just before rolling under the first guide roller. In the older videos you could see how the camera picked up the amplitude of the blade. Now it's just a straight line. Oh yeah - the blade can be pulled tighter, that is the main difference. ;)

Hei.

Mul omal on endatehtud 1,4 diam lõikav kettsaeraam. Ka elektriga üles alla.
@DonnDIY
@DonnDIY 5 лет назад
