I finally had a chance to install the new SawStop Z.C.I. Aluminum body throat plate, available at Infinity Cutting Tools www.infinitytools.com, in my SawStop this weekend.
It's nice to have options when it comes to items like zero-clearance inserts on table saws and this one has some nice bells and whistles.
This is just a sneak peek at the throat plate being installed and prepped for use. I'll share more about it's overall use when I release the SawStop review episode during Safety Week 2013.

It's definitely nice to have options with everything! I'll see what I can do about the snow, but I wouldn't count on me doing much...I like to share ;)

I don't own a motorcycle, but I once ran with a moped gang in high school (true story). The beard is my wife's idea, she likes it a lot. Of course she has more tattoos than I do, so that may explain a few things LOL.

It's the intro to a song called "No Right" from a group I found on Music.Podshow back in 2006 named 3 Feet Up.

thanks for the review, I just got my PCS and only have the standard insert so I may consider this infinity for dado and other blades... and updates or thoughts 4 years later?

According to the maker the PM is in the works possibly.

Awesome Matt! I think this is a great alternative to the standard S.S. inserts. I will have to check this out. BTW, could you keep your snow from blowing over towards me please? LOL!

The Infinity ZCI has two holes that allow provided screws to secure the insert at the back so that the blade does not pinch. I bought my SS CNS175 , as a "demo", last week and did not get a riving knife at the time of purchase. SS is going to provide me with one. For free, my favorite price. Love those people.. So, for now, I only have the blade guard for protection against kick back. In a fit of excitement I also bought the Infinity ZCI and 4 extra throat plates. As mentioned, the Infinity ZCI has two holes that allow provided screws to secure the insert at the back so that the blade does not pinch. I found this out the hard way, by doing as you did, and not putting them in. I bungled the throat plate and it pinched the blade and made it hard to install the blade guard. The blade would not freely spin and in a fit of common sense, I thought it a poor choice to let the motor try and spin the blade. I reinstalled the factory insert. The holes for the anti-pinch screws are too large (IMO) and the throat plate is MDF which does not hold screws well. I thought that if I put the screws close to the side of the holes, it would not move as easily. I put them in the wrong side and then stripped the holes. I have one other fresh "blade guard" insert but I want to keep it unused as I'd like to try and make a throat plate from birch plywood. I am going to fill the holes in with epoxy and try to install the throat plate again.

Didn't the insert come with two small screws to prevent the back part of the insert from flexing?

Not with the original one I received. But subsequently yes.

Hi Matt, I enjoy your podcasts and videos either on your own or with your two able assistants on Wood talk. Have to ask though, your beard is similar to those worn by motorcyclists. Do you own a motorcycle? .
