Well this video is mostly aimed at horn owners vs. repair techs, but yes that is an option (as is buying new screws from Yamaha). I've seen people use nylon fishing line and glue it in the slot. I use threadlocker usually because it does the same thing in basically no time = I don't have to charge the customer, whereas scraping out the old stuff and putting in nylon on every screw on an old Yamaha would probably add more time/money than just ordering replacement screws.
I am mostly self-taught! As much as that is possible these days anyways- I read all I could, talked to whoever would listen, took advice from whoever would give it, and of course figured out whatever I could on my own along the way. Still learning and will be until I retire.
I've seen the lower strength 222/Purple version of the Thread Lock being used, that's actually what MusicMedic sells. Is there any reason you use 242/blue instead?
I need help. My sax is a Yamaha Yas-23 but my screws got loose so i tighten them up again and it wasnt good anymore. The sounds are very wierd and I need help. Please help me please.
