Yeah, I see what you mean. When I worked in China I also had this problem because I didn’t speak Chinese and my students s didn’t speak English. So, I usually explained the rules by pretending being students. It’s like wearing many faces. I am Student 1, then I am Student 2, then Student 3. And every time I did the necessary task according to the rules. And gradually students grabbed the idea and started playing. And guess what? There was always at least one smart student who was first to understand how to play and he or she explained the rules of the game to the classmates in their native language 😉☺️

You can play any music you like or just ask students to count together from 1 to 10 or to say the ABC.

Be polite, positive and what is very important smiling person. Also it depends on students age, if they are children be friendly, not rude, if they are adults be respectful. Show that you want to help, praise your students.
