What’s funny is that a similar situation happened to this with my brother in law but nobody stole the ring. So basically his side of the family has a like good luck ritual where they shake the box holding the ring before the proposal. And had one those boxes where it’s just sheer fabric folded under the ring. So before he proposes he shakes the box and we guess that’s when the ring got wedged into the fabric and the side or the box in a way that was viewable obviously on the outside. So he does the generic thing of having her look at something while he kneels silently until she notices. Only for my sister to notice the ring not in the box. Cue the sudden panic as he was sure he put it in and second guessing if he even placed it in the box at all. Eventually my sister had the idea of checking the box more closely and found it. It makes a fun story though. They even called back to it by pretending the rings were lost before wearing them actually at the wedding.

Seriously this one really made me go WTF! I mean I have intrusive thoughts too but I stop myself like at least once a day from doing dumb shit. I would NEVER

It's kind of my love language to cook for my friends and family and let me TELL YOU by the time you buy all the ingredients and spend the time to make the food, it is so much easier and cheaper to just buy it. Especially with cake, that shit takes forever especially if you want to decorate it nicely. But if you want to show you care and you enjoy cooking, it's a great way to demonstrate your affection! A third perspective, is how is the workplace even operational with its process of blocking employees from the outside world? At least tried, the news was unfortunately faster😂 And he can't be using his phone while he's driving the bus but he still has to have it on him for if the radio goes out. It seems likely that this is something government related, dealing with classified stuff, or maybe something where the signals can cause interference with the work itself. Still, the site manager should *absolutely* have told them what happened and allowed them to tell their families they were safe, and yelling at her for being worried was totally out of line.

My partner learned that I had recently been diagnosed with Bipolar and after a year, he was finding resource material *for me*. If you actually care about someone, you will seek to understand them. The guy wouldve learned so much if he just... watched a hair stylist do braids. Its the age of the internet, if you care, you have no excuse to refuse knowledge.

It isn't automatically. if you don't feel safe around someone or don't know how to handle a relationship with someone, seeking distance for a bit is healthy. telling someone they aren't allowed to do that, so as to keep them around you, can be emotional abuse also. codependence is a bitch. in the end, i guess the best way to describe the difference between abusive neglect and just taking a break is mostly, what are you communicating? if you are demonstrating that the person depends on you, setting unreasonable conditions for them, that they should fulfill in order for you to return, especially ultimatums. That's abusive. If there's demands made that go beyond apology and betterment, and she won't return otherwise. That's manipulative. If she's explicitly waiting for him to come back crawling, begging, getting a thrill out of that rush of power. That's messed up. Not getting in contact with him because she needs to cool down? Because seeing him kinda makes her angry right now? Because she needs to process or figure out how she feels about their relationship? That can grow into something nasty, but in and of itself, it's just a safety tool. And a fair one to use. You don't owe your partner emotional intimacy. You do owe them their right to have emotions of their own too. And some honesty when you finally talk about it. And I will say. That you describe emotional abuse as the "immature thing to do" shows that you know little of abuse. Cause it's not the immature option. It really isn't even an "option". When it breaks out, and when people leverage it, it's more of a need. A corrupt, broken need, but still a thing that will worm itself into the relationship and tear it apart, making the people incapable of connecting, of talking to eachother on an even plane. "She had a chance to educate him but she chose to do the immature thing and emotionally abuse him" makes it sound like abuse is just a casual decision people sometimes take when they don't feel like having a real relationship.

He's making a textbook excuse to diminish his wrongdoing. Why couldn't he just Google it if he could post this on Reddit? That is unquestionably weaponized incompetence. Also, I think you have selective hearing. She definitely explained the reason and educated him. The OP perceives this situation as a minor issue, but if he thought it wasn't a big deal, he shouldn't have given his unsolicited opinion about someone else's bonnet from the beginning. He made a big deal about her bonnet, and when she explained the reason, he said, I don't understand. He wanted to communicate but didn't like the answer he got after communicating, lol. It seems like he still refuses to acknowledge his ignorance. Also, yes, silent treatment is an immature thing to do.

This was my first thought! Like if I saw 20+ calls from my wife I'd think there was an emergency or a death in the family. There's no way I'd see that and be angry!

The only good part about it is that she's not married to him yet and she can get the hell out of there 😭 she was probably hoping he could help out with looking after her daughter and instead she got a second kid 😅

If I had been even tangentially connected to a major emergency, like if something happened NEAR my campus or like across the street from my job and I KNEW it was being reported on...like if I saw 20 missed calls, I'd assume theyre confused and worried and immediately call back?? or text? and be like "Im sorry, my phone was locked away, I'm okay, I'm sorry you were worried that long". Like theres no real BLAME with the situation on paper, the boss made it bad. Theres a psych term, displaced anger

yeah was gonna say that. him being immediately angry and not worrying, even when he said that his wife KNOWS ABOUT THE RULE AND RESPECTS IT USUALLY, and has never called him before while he was at that job because she knew and respected the rule, meaning she won't just call him 20 times for funsies. him reacting angerly is just a red flag. also the boss at his job is an asshole too. you're gonna write him up for this ONE TIME, when it never happened before. and that amount of noise is clearly someone desperately trying to contact him and probably is an emergency.

​@@rainestar82he did say that things take more time to reach where he works (or some shit like that) so he didn't know about the fire. which still doesn't justify his response to his WIFE being worried about him. on the other hand if something DID happen at his place of work and he almost got injured, and it was on the news, and she wouldn't have cared, he probably would've been the same amount of pissed from how it sounds...

the one thing I'll say in his defense (I think his behaviour wasn't okay, ofc, but I feel that people keep ignoring this detail) is that his boss had just yelled at him. His reaction was not okay, and was unreasonable, and the fact that he's maintaining that he was in any way justified is a HUUGE red flag, but that initial anger makes sense to me. Let's break this down. He made, inarguably, the correct choice by putting his phone on DND and putting it in his locker. He followed protocol. His wife then makes, inarguably, the correct choice when she repeatedly calls him, which results in his phone going off DND. He then gets chewed out by his boss for his phone ringing, something that is not his fault. He then speaks to his wife and is mad at her. This is because he feels unjustifiably persecuted by his boss, but cannot direct that anger at his boss due to the fact that this could impact his empoyment. The 'safe' outlet is to be angry at his wife, someone who does not hold monetary or social power over him. I can empathise with his initial anger, and can understand his immediate reaction. The initial anger, to me, is caused by the events surrounding the situation. I *cannot* empathise with his continued anger after finding out why his wife called him, and I cannot empathise with his continued justification, at which point the heightened tension has dissapated and he aught to be thinking reasonably.

@@nootdraws It sounds a lot more that he's angry that she knows he won't have access to his phone. He made it very clear that she was aware this was the case. If there had been an incident calling (or googling then calling) a phone with someone who will answer is the logical thing to do. Knowing it wasn't possible to reach him in this way (I'm guessing it's something more like a fireworks factory or perhaps an anti-static protected facility either of which would make having electronics that aren't approved by the facility literally dangerous) I think he's more angry that her calling the way she already knows can't reach him and that ends up jeopardizing future raises than taking out anything from his boss on anyone. He set a boundary and she broke it. Why is that not okay because he's a guy?
