The period story reminded me of a wholesome moment with my dad: When I was a kid I pissed my pants at a Quiznos right when I got inside the bathroom and I was sooooooo embarrassed. I called my dad into the little bathroom cause I didn’t know what to do and he turned on the sink and started throwing water everywhere. YUP. like, no, it’s generally not a good idea to go swimming on your period, sanitary products generally do not survive getting submerged in water. But she’s a 13 year old kid; some kids don’t start their periods until age 12, so maybe not even a year of living with her courses, and she’s probably dealing with adolescent hormones plus period mood swings plus trauma to boot, of course she’s emotional. Poor kid learned EVERYTHING she needed to know and then some from the initial awful experience. What she needed was a hug, a towel, a change of clothes, and a dad who’d go to bat for her; what she got was punishments and a dad who joined the cruise staff in mocking his middle school-aged daughter. I think the boys are right and those punishments had nothing to do with hygiene or the daughter’s issues and everything to do with a man wanting to take his embarrassment out on someone and reassert control of his world.

Yes I wanted to cry listening to that story. Trying to navigate your period as a child is so unbelievably overwhelming at times and to have something like this happen and then have a parent who is supposed to love and support you absolutely destroy you will definitely be a defining moment in that kid's life. Just from the detail of the "punishment" I'm going to assume this wasn't the first incident of cruelty and I wouldn't be surprised if she grows up and cuts off all contact.
I work at a theme park and I had a young girl and her father come up to me and some coworkers the other day; she had gotten her first period and was freaking out. The dad walked up and gave all of us attitude about not knowing how to help her other than finding a female employee to help. We took the girl to get some feminine products and left the dad there. She was calm and collected after we left him, and I felt so much pain for her.

@@Ajesen yes a funeral is essentially the last goodbye and can be deemed as disrespectful if missed however if you barely know them I do understand skipping it. With regards to that situation a lot of it was the inability to show said respect but also be there for supporting her sister. Support when someone dies is essential. Hopefully this makes sense, it’s okay to not understand and to sometimes feel non-sentimental. I’m sure in your own specific way there are odd things that are sentimental or there could be none. Either way as long as you live your life as a kind person, your doing it right 😊

That was one of my first thoughts. I grew up the youngest in a family of 6 where my mother is the only woman. I have no idea what a period is like, but i know when someone is just starting experiencing them, they have to be terrified. That girl was mortified already, and the dad just traumatized her probably for the rest of her life. I seriously hope her mother divorced her father after that cruise. I would've gotten arrested for throwing that man overboard, if I saw that happen. At the very least, I would've gone off on him and defended his daughter. I'm only 19, but I'm 6'1 and weigh over 230 pounds. I wouldn't have stopped until that guy was as embarrassed as his daughter, or until he went overboard. I couldn't imagine doing something like that, let alone in public.
I had my first period at 12 in a pool at the water park area of a theme park. My parents werent there bc i went on a trip with family friends and their kids. An older woman told me I was bleeding and I was MORTIFIED. I immediately got out, went to a bathroom, had a panic attack, changed, and stuffed toilet paper in my underwear. I was so humiliated and had so much shame about periods that i didn't even tell the adults I was with. (No cell phone bc I wasn't old enough and cell phones werent as common for younger kids to have yet) I spent the rest of the day at the park using toilet paper, cramping, and being worried that blood would come through. If an adult had punished me, shamed me, and mocked me for that....I probably would've broken down crying. This is already a core memory and nobody made me feel shitty about it! I can't imagine having your parent berate you like that over something that's already extremely sensitive

The average woman bleeds at most 5tbsp of blood during their entire cycle. If she was bleeding that severely she would need immediate medical attention.

It’s actually really nice to see how young men think about women in a whole different way than men of my generation (I’m 49) and older typically do. It warms my heart (and I have a cold heart) to see guys treating women equally and expressing sympathy for our issues. As a teenager, I learned to shut down my feelings and not bother my boyfriend or husband with my fears and traumas. I knew they didn’t care. That was obvious. It’s really sweet how girls of the younger generations can count on their boyfriends for understanding and comfort. I never cry in front of a man (or anyone) and I doubt I ever will, because I think it would only be used against me somehow, but I’m glad things are changing. ❤ Note: This only applies to liberal men. something a lot of people don't realize about dogs is that the training never stops. you don't teach them some commands as a puppy and then call it a day, you have to build a bond, socialize them with other dogs and animals, make sure they're not dealing with unreleased nervous energy etc. it truly is a dog life long commitment.

The story about the guy who would hide things from him wife because she was “so cute” when frazzled reminds me of my first boyfriend. Whenever I get period cramps, I curl up in a ball on the couch with a heating pad until I feel better. He loved it, saying I was “so cute all curled up!” I’d just look at him and say “I’m in pain.” He’d just say “Well, yeah, but you’re being cute” It was very weird.
As a woman I would feel 1000% safe being drunk and alone in a room with any of these 3 (Shayne, Damien, and Noah) purely based on their responses to these stories.

The period story made me so angry. I was alone with my father when I got my first period, circa fifth grade. I was unrelatedly sick in the hospital, and he worked nights at the time while my mom worked days. The man didn’t panic. He didn’t shame me. Or make me feel worse than I already did. He got me clean clothes. Got pads from a nurse. And a bar of my favorite chocolate from my overnight bag started a Ghibli movie on our portable dvd player. That Reddit post is proof that every kid deserves a dad, but not every sperm donor deserves to be a father.

@@delaneykeller1389 the way Damien described each situation basically read my mind, especially on the first one. Cats shouldn't really be let outside, but you should also train your dog and not abuse animals, and that wasn't even the reason for being upset in that story.
Completely unrelated: I LOVE Damien and Noah’s Hair. I love that they just do their own thing and go with what they want. The vibrant colors they get are just PURRRRRRRFECT (happened to comment when the cat story was going on. ROFL) .
The guy who hid things from his wife cause he thought it was "cute" is so wild. I have ADHD and what he did would have made me have panic attacks, and the way he described her was so uncomfortable. I've had a guy describe how "cute" certain quirks of mine were and I found out after not too long that he was just infantalizing me and treating me like a possession and not a person. When I stopped doing the quirks he liked, he stopped liking me cause I was no longer the thing he'd been fetishizing.
Same I also have ADHD and both my grandmothers died from dementia related causes so I'm super afraid of getting dementia myself. I would have left that guy immediately.
Yeah, this story really bothered me. Since having my daughter and being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I’ve been suffering with severe brain fog. I lose and forget things so often that it has started really stressing me out. If I found out my partner did something like this I would feel so betrayed.
Im lucky to have someone who doesn't treat me like rhat with my ADHD. People weirdly find it cute :/ having it is fun only on occasion because my co workers love it. But my partner and my co workers arent stupid because they are well aware that ADHD is beyond "quirky". I can't tell you how often i struggle with gaps in my memory and being absolutely scatter-brained. For the most part, ADHD is more struggles in functioning than being a "little silly"
You have no idea how much I relate to the period story. I had an accident when I was 13 at the movies when I was there with my dad and two of my siblings. My dad freaked out and took me to my moms. My stepmom had the worst reaction though. When I got to my dads she screamed at me saying that I’m only good at ruining things for everyone else. It was my birthday. I’m now 22, and I will never forget that, neither will that little girl.

Damian, Noah, and Shayne are a PHENOMENAL trio for this show! Damian’s visceral reactions, Shayne’s hilarious interjections, Noah’s facial expressions, it’s all absolutely perfect for this show. No matter how horrified or angry I was at some of these stories, these three never failed to voice my frustrations and then find something to laugh at somewhere. I would *gladly* take more episodes of this show with these three.
I promise I’m not just saying this because I’m a Damien stan, but please, PLEASE have him and Noah on more. The dynamic here was phenomenal. Damien’s reactions, especially with the gas station story, Jesus Christ, hilarity.
agree. they were perfect for these type of stories too because the three of them are such down to earth, geuinely kind people. so readign through the worst garbage of humanity really helps when people like them ecoe exactly what goes on in your head
I came back to this video 10 months after it was posted and hands down it is my favorite. I don't wanna give these three men a medal for being emotionally intelligent, but they at least get a shout out at the school assembly. I love this.

I’m furious that the 13 year old girls mother didn’t put a stop to that and actually allowed her daughter to be ostracised at dinner. Regardless of if she’s angry at her husband now, I can’t believe it went that far.
As Shayne always says, these guys tell the stories in the ways they think makes them look the best. Which means it's way worse behind the scenes. She's probably terrified of him and is abused just as much.
I have a rager father that shames you as well… and, speaking from experience, the dad’s a narcissist and if you try to stop his tantrum itll last for a week instead of a day and he’ll remind you about that moment for the rest of your life “aS a jOKe.” Im not defending the mom for being silent but no matter how hard you try to get through to a narcissist, you never will. I truly hope that was a fake story. If not, i just know the daughter is gonna have an amazing life after dropping her dad when’s she’s an adult.
The period story had nothing to do with hygiene and everything to do with his embarrassment and transferring it on to her- I'm so glad that purple hair guy (so sorry this is the first ep I've seen him) pointed out it was only for his own gain and ego. HE 🙏 IS 🙏 EMBARRASSED 🙏 Edit: Def don't stay for the kids. My mom left my shite dad and it shaped so much self respect for myself and the people around me. She saw that he wasn't just hurting her, but us, so we left. My grandma never left my shitty grandpa though, so my Aunt had to watch her mom stick it out in an awful marriage and watch her mom let her husband be mean to her kids and grandkids. So what does my aunt do? She gets into a relationship with a guy who treats her and her family like shit. She stayed with him for years before finally leaving. Where I dip the moment I realize my boundaries are going to be disrespected/they're shit to my family. I don't stay "to work things out" if they don't see you as a person/don't respect you things are never going to work. Your kids are impacted by the type of relationship they see reflected in their parents.

That period guy doesn't deserve children. My dad left work early and had me ditch class and picked me up behind the high school mission impossible style so I wouldn't have to talk to staff and cause me any more embarrassment then took me to get ice-cream in the afternoon. He made it a funny memory instead of a traumatic one.

I’m a Taylor Swift girl through and through. That woman’s music has shaped me as a human being and I genuinely cherish her as an artist. That being said-I would resell my tickets the instant the funeral date was set as the same day as the concert because THAT’S MY SIBLING. My mother would personally light my phone on fire with the tickets pulled up in Ticketmaster on the screen as it burned if I tried to chose a concert over comforting my grieving sibling that is actively experiencing TRAGEDY.
Also how do they think Taylor would react if she heard they blew off their sisters husbands funeral who died in a tragic accident just for her concert like?? Taylor would probably think they were gross too
okay but i went to one of her concerts the same day of my grandpas funeral a few hours later but only because he was the kind of guy that wouldn’t want anyone to be sad that day. he was the kind of guy to encourage everyone to go off and have fun even as he was in hospital. he was an icon truly
@@_katie_d definitely a difference there though. You didn’t SKIP your grandfather’s funeral to see a concert. And usually the death of an old and/or sick grandparent is expected, as opposed to a sudden and traumatic death of a young person in the family
None of these AITA stories have ever made my jaw physically drop, but that quickly changed when it got to the one about the girl's dad humiliating her because of a pure accident

The story about the guy who hid things from his wife is the literal definition of gaslighting. The play the term came from was the story of a guy who kept slightly changing things in the environment (lower lights in lamps, move things around the house etc) and when his wife would question it he would just say she was crazy or must’ve missed it or whatever. He is literally doing that. Making her slowly think she is going crazy and starts to build dependency on him to help her and gradually doubting herself and her reality. That is mental and emotional abuse. Narcissistic scum bag.
No kidding. And I call BS that he thought it was 'cute'. I think he made all that up about her reaction when finding something just to soften what he has been doing to her and put a different spin on it. The fact that his sisters reacted the way they did and told her immediately, and her own reaction when she found out also supports this was BS. They seem to have recognized it for what it was immediately. And they are much closer to the situation. That speaks volumes
Fr I have ADHD and lose or forget things all the time, and it is legitimately mentally and emotionally exhausting at times. If I found out a partner was doing this to me I would feel straight up violated and would probably never trust them again.
@@fhey7903 Yes, and I have certain objects that I get quite stressed about losing. If somebody hid one of those from me, I don’t know what I’d do. Though in reality, since I forgive a lot of harmful behavior, I’d probably do nothing.
When I was on a cruise with my dad, I had started my period the day beforehand. I’m so so grateful that my dad was so kind about it, not forcing me to swim or shaming me for having my period lol. That dad is absolutely insane. It’s so humiliating bleeding through, it’s scary and hard to clean, too. I hope that his daughter is doing okay and he has gotten his karma.
As a vet nurse, the whole owner not training their dog, thinking they are trained are the worst ones we see. Especially when they say “oh they are friendly”, tries to bite anyone that comes near them
My dog barks at people and she isn't aggressive. This is why we are working on it. She doesn't get to go meet the human if she barks more than once. And if she barks constantly, we leave. One bark is telling me there's a person, and given that she sees better than me in the dark, I appreciate that bark. Any more than that is rude or may be seen as threatening. It's been a slow process because sometimes it's hard to get her out of sight of whatever she's barking at, but she's starting to get it.
Went to meet a dog to see about watching them for 20 days. The dog nipped at me 4 times in half an hour, oh she stops that once she gets to know you better. Ummm no sorry sir I'm not qualified for this 😅
Tbh as far as the funeral I wouldn't be offended if it was mine. Go live your life. I'm dead . And most people ik would feel the sane but I know that's not everyone and underatand sister being uoset
My answer is always "If he did anything I'd be suprised" but I never say never. Heck my horse who would NEVER try and hurt someone on purpose and is probably one of the easiest horses to handle I still never say she would never act up because you never know
